Brisbane Pally Perunnal Flag Hoisting Ceremony (Kodiyettu) at St. George Indian Orthodox Church – May 4, 2025

On May 4, 2025, St. George Indian Orthodox Church in Brisbane will kick off the Brisbane Pally Perunnal (Feast of St. George) celebrations with a special Flag Hoisting Ceremony (Kodiyettu). This important event marks the official commencement of the festival, which holds great spiritual significance for the community.

Event Schedule:

  • 08:00 AM: Morning Prayer

  • 09:00 AM: Holy Qurbana (Holy Mass), with Fr. Liju Samuel as the Chief Celebrant

  • 10:45 AM: Perunnal Kodiyettu (Flag Hoisting Ceremony)

The Kodiyettu, or Flag Hoisting, represents the triumph of good over evil, honouring the victory of St. George over the dragon. It’s an important symbol of faith and community spirit as the celebrations of St. George’s Feast officially begin.
