Mother’s Day Celebrated at St. George Orthodox Church Brisbane with Food Stall & Tribute

St. George Indian Orthodox Church Brisbane Celebrates Mother’s Day with Love and Flavour
Brisbane, 4 May 2025 — Following the Holy Qurbana and the Kodiyettu ceremony earlier today, the St. George Indian Orthodox Church in Mackenzie celebrated Mother’s Day in heartfelt fashion with a special food stall event hosted by SGIOCB MGOCSM.
The celebration honoured the incredible mothers of the parish with a festive spread of beloved treats including Pani Puri, Gulab Jamun, and Ice Cream — bringing together flavours of home and community warmth. The church hall at 479 Mt. Petrie Road was abuzz with joy as families gathered to show their appreciation for mothers and mother figures in the congregation.
In a touching moment, all the mothers in attendance came together for a group photo, capturing the love, unity, and strength that they represent within the church community. The image is a lasting reminder of the pivotal role mothers play — not only in families but in the life of the parish.
The event added a personal and celebratory note to an already spiritually rich day, as the parish began its Brisbane Pally Perunnal festivities in honour of St. George. The organisers from MGOCSM extended their gratitude to all volunteers and attendees who made the Mother’s Day celebration a memorable one.
With faith, food, and family at the heart of the day, the community looks forward to the continuing Perunnal celebrations in the coming days.
