Palm Sunday Service at St. George Indian Orthodox Church Brisbane | 13th April 2025

Brisbane, 13th April 2025 – The congregation of St. George Indian Orthodox Church, located at 479 Mt. Petrie Road, Mackenzie, Brisbane, came together today to observe Palm Sunday (Hosanna) in a spiritually uplifting programme led by His Grace Dr. Yuhanon Mar Dioscoros, Metropolitan, who served as the Chief Celebrant.

The day's schedule began early, with Morning Prayer at 7:15 am, followed by the Palm Sunday Service and Holy Qurbana at 8:15 am. The congregation participated in the traditional procession, carrying palm leaves and joining in the heartfelt hymns, commemorating the triumphant entry of Jesus into Jerusalem. Palm Sunday marks the beginning of Holy Week and is a significant moment for reflection and spiritual renewal within the Christian faith.

After the liturgical services, attendees gathered for a communal breakfast at 11:30 am, fostering fellowship and a sense of unity among the church community. The celebration offered an opportunity for the parishioners to connect, share in the joy of the occasion, and reflect on the sacred journey of Holy Week.

Preparations for the day were thorough, with the church community ensuring a welcoming environment for all, drawing parishioners from across Brisbane and beyond. The event was a meaningful and blessed start to Holy Week, with the faithful expressing their gratitude and devotion as they entered this sacred time of reflection and prayer.

St. George Indian Orthodox Church continues to offer opportunities for the community to come together in worship and fellowship as Holy Week progresses.
