Passover / Pesaha Service at St George Indian Orthodox Church Brisbane | 16th April 2025

Brisbane, 16th April 2025 – The St George Indian Orthodox Church in Brisbane hosted a deeply spiritual Passover / Pesaha Service today, an important occasion for the local congregation. The service, which took place on the 16th of April, was led by Rev. Fr. Saji Yohannan, the Deputy Secretary to His Holiness Baselios Marthoma Mathews III, who served as the Chief Celebrant for the event.
The Pesaha Service, a central ritual in the Indian Orthodox tradition, commemorates the Last Supper and is marked by rich liturgical practices. Congregants gathered in reverence as the service unfolded, filled with prayers, hymns, and rituals that reflect the profound faith and heritage of the Indian Orthodox Church. This occasion offered the community an opportunity for spiritual reflection, renewal, and a deeper connection to their Christian faith. Following the service, Pesaha Appam (traditional bread) and Palu (milk) were served as nercha (offering), continuing the cherished tradition of sharing the blessed offering among the faithful.
