St George Indian Orthodox Church Brisbane Completes Hamper Drive

Brisbane, 19th January 2024 – In a heartwarming display of community spirit, the Orthodox Christian Youth Movement (OCYM) and Mar Gregorios Orthodox Christian Students Movement (MGOCSM) of St George Indian Orthodox Church, Brisbane, successfully concluded their annual hamper drive. The initiative, led under the guidance of the parish vicar, Rev. Fr. Liju Samuel, aimed to support those in need within the local community.
The collected hampers, filled with essential items, were handed over to Janene, the Community Centre Coordinator at the Mount Gravatt Community Centre, in a small but meaningful event. Speaking on the occasion, Rev. Fr. Liju Samuel expressed his gratitude to all the parish members and volunteers who contributed generously to the drive. “It is our responsibility as a faith community to extend a helping hand to those in need. We are blessed to make a small difference,” he said.
Janene, in turn, thanked the church and its youth organisations for their thoughtful gesture, emphasising the impact such contributions have on families and individuals facing hardship. The initiative is part of the church’s ongoing commitment to charitable outreach, fostering a spirit of compassion and solidarity.
