¹In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

²The same was in the beginning with God.

³All things were made through him. Without him, nothing was made that has been made.

⁴In him was life, and the life was the light of men.

⁵The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness hasn’t overcome it.

⁶There came a man sent from God, whose name was John.

⁷The same came as a witness, that he might testify about the light, that all might believe through him.

⁸He was not the light, but was sent that he might testify about the light.

⁹The true light that enlightens everyone was coming into the world.

¹⁰He was in the world, and the world was made through him, and the world didn’t recognize him.

¹¹He came to his own, and those who were his own didn’t receive him.

¹²But as many as received him, to them he gave the right to become God’s children, to those who believe in his name:

¹³who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

¹⁴The Word became flesh and lived among us. We saw his glory, such glory as of the only born Son of the Father, full of grace and truth.

¹⁵John testified about him. He cried out, saying, “This was he of whom I said, ‘He who comes after me has surpassed me, for he was before me.’ ”

¹⁶From his fullness we all received grace upon grace.

¹⁷For the law was given through Moses. Grace and truth were realized through Jesus Christ.

¹⁸No one has seen God at any time. The only born Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, has declared him.

¹ആദിയിൽ വചനം ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; വചനം ദൈവത്തോടുകൂടെ ആയിരുന്നു; വചനം ദൈവം ആയിരുന്നു.

⁴അവനിൽ ജീവൻ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; ജീവൻ മനുഷ്യരുടെ വെളിച്ചമായിരുന്നു.

⁵വെളിച്ചം ഇരുളിൽ പ്രകാശിക്കുന്നു; ഇരുളോ അതിനെ പിടിച്ചടക്കിയില്ല.

⁶ദൈവം അയച്ചിട്ടു ഒരു മനുഷ്യൻ വന്നു; അവന്നു യോഹന്നാൻ എന്നു പേർ.

⁷അവൻ സാക്ഷ്യത്തിന്നായി, താൻമുഖാന്തരം എല്ലാവരും വിശ്വസിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു വെളിച്ചത്തെക്കുറിച്ചു സാക്ഷ്യം പറവാൻ തന്നേ വന്നു.

⁸അവൻ വെളിച്ചം ആയിരുന്നില്ല; വെളിച്ചത്തിന്നു സാക്ഷ്യം പറയേണ്ടുന്നവനത്രേ.

⁹ഏതു മനുഷ്യനെയും പ്രകാശിപ്പിക്കുന്ന സത്യവെളിച്ചം ലോകത്തിലേക്കു വന്നുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.

¹⁰അവൻ ലോകത്തിൽ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; ലോകം അവൻമുഖാന്തരം ഉളവായി; ലോകമോ അവനെ അറിഞ്ഞില്ല.

¹¹അവൻ സ്വന്തത്തിലേക്കു വന്നു; സ്വന്തമായവരോ അവനെ കൈക്കൊണ്ടില്ല.

¹²അവനെ കൈക്കൊണ്ടു അവന്റെ നാമത്തിൽ വിശ്വസിക്കുന്ന ഏവൎക്കും ദൈവമക്കൾ ആകുവാൻ അവൻ അധികാരം കൊടുത്തു.

¹³അവർ രക്തത്തിൽ നിന്നല്ല, ജഡത്തിന്റെ ഇഷ്ടത്താലല്ല, പുരുഷന്റെ ഇഷ്ടത്താലുമല്ല, ദൈവത്തിൽ നിന്നത്രേ ജനിച്ചതു.

¹⁴വചനം ജഡമായി തീൎന്നു, കൃപയും സത്യവും നിറഞ്ഞവനായി നമ്മുടെ ഇടയിൽ പാൎത്തു. ഞങ്ങൾ അവന്റെ തേജസ്സ് പിതാവിൽ നിന്നു ഏകജാതനായവന്റെ തേജസ്സായി കണ്ടു.

¹⁵യോഹന്നാൻ അവനെക്കുറിച്ചു സാക്ഷീകരിച്ചു: എന്റെ പിന്നാലെ വരുന്നവൻ എനിക്കു മുമ്പനായി തീൎന്നു; അവൻ എനിക്കു മുമ്പെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു എന്നു ഞാൻ പറഞ്ഞവൻ ഇവൻ തന്നേ എന്നു വിളിച്ചുപറഞ്ഞു.

¹The book of the genealogy of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham.

²Abraham became the father of Isaac. Isaac became the father of Jacob. Jacob became the father of Judah and his brothers.

³Judah became the father of Perez and Zerah by Tamar. Perez became the father of Hezron. Hezron became the father of Ram.

⁴Ram became the father of Amminadab. Amminadab became the father of Nahshon. Nahshon became the father of Salmon.

⁵Salmon became the father of Boaz by Rahab. Boaz became the father of Obed by Ruth. Obed became the father of Jesse.

⁶Jesse became the father of King David. David the king became the father of Solomon by her who had been Uriah’s wife.

⁷Solomon became the father of Rehoboam. Rehoboam became the father of Abijah. Abijah became the father of Asa.

⁸Asa became the father of Jehoshaphat. Jehoshaphat became the father of Joram. Joram became the father of Uzziah.

⁹Uzziah became the father of Jotham. Jotham became the father of Ahaz. Ahaz became the father of Hezekiah.

¹⁰Hezekiah became the father of Manasseh. Manasseh became the father of Amon. Amon became the father of Josiah.

¹¹Josiah became the father of Jechoniah and his brothers at the time of the exile to Babylon.

¹²After the exile to Babylon, Jechoniah became the father of Shealtiel. Shealtiel became the father of Zerubbabel.

¹³Zerubbabel became the father of Abiud. Abiud became the father of Eliakim. Eliakim became the father of Azor.

¹⁷So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; from David to the exile to Babylon fourteen generations; and from the carrying away to Babylon to the Christ, fourteen generations.

¹⁸Now the birth of Jesus Christ was like this: After his mother, Mary, was engaged to Joseph, before they came together, she was found pregnant by the Holy Spirit.

¹⁴സെബൂലൂന്റെ പുത്രന്മാർ: സേരെദ്, ഏലോൻ , യഹ്ളെയേൽ.

¹⁵ഇവർ ലേയയുടെ പുത്രന്മാർ; അവൾ അവരെയും യാക്കോബിന്റെ മകളായ ദീനയെയും അവന്നു പദ്ദൻ --അരാമിൽവെച്ചു പ്രസവിച്ചു; അവന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരും പുത്രിമാരും എല്ലാം കൂടെ മുപ്പത്തുമൂന്നു പേർ ആയിരുന്നു.

¹⁸ഹേബെർ, മൽക്കീയേൽ. ഇവർ ലാബാൻ തന്റെ മകളായ ലേയെക്കു കൊടുത്ത സില്പയുടെ പുത്രന്മാർ; അവൾ യാക്കോബിന്നു ഈ പതിനാറു പേരെ പ്രസവിച്ചു.

¹⁹യാക്കോബിന്റെ ഭാര്യയായ റാഹേലിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാർ:

²⁷യോസേഫിന്നു മിസ്രയീമിൽവെച്ചു ജനിച്ച പുത്രന്മാർ രണ്ടുപേർ; മിസ്രയീമിൽ വന്നരായ യാക്കോബിന്റെ കുടുംബം ആകെ എഴുപതു പേർ.

³Yahweh said to him, “I have heard your prayer and your supplication that you have made before me. I have made this house holy, which you have built, to put my name there forever; and my eyes and my heart shall be there perpetually.

⁴As for you, if you will walk before me as David your father walked, in integrity of heart and in uprightness, to do according to all that I have commanded you, and will keep my statutes and my ordinances,

⁵then I will establish the throne of your kingdom over Israel forever, as I promised to David your father, saying, ‘There shall not fail from you a man on the throne of Israel.’

⁶But if you turn away from following me, you or your children, and not keep my commandments and my statutes which I have set before you, but go and serve other gods and worship them,

⁷then I will cut off Israel out of the land which I have given them; and I will cast this house, which I have made holy for my name, out of my sight; and Israel will be a proverb and a byword among all peoples.

³യഹോവ അവനോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതെന്തെന്നാൽ: നീ എന്റെ മുമ്പാകെ കഴിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന നിന്റെ പ്രാർത്ഥനയും യാചനയും ഞാൻ കേട്ടു; നീ പണിതിരിക്കുന്ന ഈ ആലയത്തെ എന്റെ നാമം അതിൽ എന്നേക്കും സ്ഥാപിപ്പാൻ തക്കവണ്ണം ഞാൻ വിശുദ്ധീകരിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; എന്റെ കണ്ണും ഹൃദയവും എല്ലായ്പോഴും അവിടെ ഇരിക്കും.

⁴ഞാൻ നിന്നോടു കല്പിച്ചതൊക്കെയും ചെയ്‍വാൻ തക്കവണ്ണം എന്റെ മുമ്പാകെ ഹൃദയനിർമ്മലതയോടും പരമാർത്ഥതയോടും കൂടെ നിന്റെ അപ്പനായ ദാവീദ് നടന്നതുപോലെ നടക്കുകയും എന്റെ ചട്ടങ്ങളും

⁵വിധികളും പ്രമാണിക്കയും ചെയ്താൽ യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ രാജാസനത്തിൽ ഇരിപ്പാൻ ഒരു പുരുഷൻ നിനക്കു ഇല്ലാതെപോകയില്ല എന്നു ഞാൻ നിന്റെ അപ്പനായ ദാവീദിനോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതുപോലെ യിസ്രായേലിലുള്ള നിന്റെ രാജത്വത്തിന്റെ സിംഹാസനം ഞാൻ എന്നേക്കും സ്ഥിരമാക്കും.

⁶നിങ്ങളോ നിങ്ങളുടെ പുത്രന്മാരോ എന്നെ വിട്ടുമാറി നിങ്ങളുടെ മുമ്പിൽ വെച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന എന്റെ കല്പനകളും ചട്ടങ്ങളും പ്രമാണിക്കാതെ ചെന്നു അന്യദൈവങ്ങളെ സേവിച്ചു നമസ്കരിച്ചാൽ

⁷ഞാൻ യിസ്രായേലിന്നു കൊടുത്തിരിക്കുന്ന ദേശത്തുനിന്നു അവരെ പറിച്ചുകളയും; എന്റെ നാമത്തിന്നു വേണ്ടി ഞാൻ വിശുദ്ധീകരിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന ഈ ആലയവും ഞാൻ എന്റെ മുമ്പിൽനിന്നു നീക്കിക്കളയും; യിസ്രായേൽ സകലജാതികളുടെയും ഇടയിൽ പഴഞ്ചൊല്ലും പരിഹാസവും ആയിരിക്കും.

¹⁶By faith in his name, his name has made this man strong, whom you see and know. Yes, the faith which is through him has given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.

¹⁷“Now, brothers, I know that you did this in ignorance, as did also your rulers.

¹⁸But the things which God announced by the mouth of all his prophets, that Christ should suffer, he thus fulfilled.

¹⁹“Repent therefore, and turn again, that your sins may be blotted out, so that there may come times of refreshing from the presence of the Lord,

²⁰and that he may send Christ Jesus, who was ordained for you before,

²¹whom heaven must receive until the times of restoration of all things, which God spoke long ago by the mouth of his holy prophets.

²²For Moses indeed said to the fathers, ‘The Lord God will raise up a prophet for you from among your brothers, like me. You shall listen to him in all things whatever he says to you.

²³It will be that every soul that will not listen to that prophet will be utterly destroyed from among the people.’

²⁴Yes, and all the prophets from Samuel and those who followed after, as many as have spoken, also told of these days.

²⁵You are the children of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying to Abraham, ‘All the families of the earth will be blessed through your offspring.’

²⁶God, having raised up his servant Jesus, sent him to you first to bless you, in turning away every one of you from your wickedness.”

¹⁶അവന്റെ നാമത്തിലെ വിശ്വാസത്താൽ അവന്റെ നാമം തന്നേ നിങ്ങൾ കാൺകയും അറികയും ചെയ്യുന്ന ഇവൻ ബലം പ്രാപിപ്പാൻ കാരണമായി തീർന്നു; അവൻ മുഖാന്തരമുള്ള വിശ്വാസം ഇന്നു നിങ്ങൾ എല്ലാവരും കാൺകെ ഈ ആരോഗ്യം വരുവാൻ ഹേതുവായി തീർന്നു.

¹⁷സഹോദരന്മാരേ, നിങ്ങളുടെ പ്രമാണികളെപ്പോലെ നിങ്ങളും അറിയായ്മകൊണ്ടു പ്രവർത്തിച്ചു എന്നു ഞാൻ അറിയുന്നു.

¹⁸ദൈവമോ തന്റെ ക്രിസ്തു കഷ്ടം അനുഭവിക്കും എന്നു സകല പ്രവാചകന്മാരും മുഖാന്തരം മുന്നറിയിച്ചതു ഇങ്ങനെ നിവർത്തിച്ചു.

¹⁹ആകയാൽ നിങ്ങളുടെ പാപങ്ങൾ മാഞ്ഞുകിട്ടേണ്ടതിന്നു മാനസാന്തരപ്പെട്ടു തിരിഞ്ഞുകൊൾവിൻ ; എന്നാൽ കർത്താവിന്റെ സമ്മുഖത്തുനിന്നു

²⁰ആശ്വാസകാലങ്ങൾ വരികയും നിങ്ങൾക്കു മുൻ നിയമിക്കപ്പെട്ട ക്രിസ്തുവായ യേശുവിനെ അവൻ അയക്കയും ചെയ്യും.

²¹ദൈവം ലോകാരംഭം മുതൽ തന്റെ വിശുദ്ധപ്രവാചകന്മാർ മുഖാന്തരം അരുളിചെയ്തതു ഒക്കെയും യഥാസ്ഥാനത്താകുന്ന കാലം വരുവോളം സ്വർഗ്ഗം അവനെ കൈക്കൊള്ളേണ്ടതാകുന്നു.

²²“ദൈവമായ കർത്താവു നിങ്ങളുടെ സഹോദരന്മാരിൽനിന്നു എന്നെപ്പോലെ ഒരു പ്രവാചകനെ നിങ്ങൾക്കു എഴുന്നേല്പിച്ചുതരും; അവൻ നിങ്ങളോടു സംസാരിക്കുന്ന സകലത്തിലും നിങ്ങൾ അവന്റെ വാക്കു കേൾക്കേണം.”

²³ആ പ്രവാചകന്റെ വാക്കു കേൾക്കാത്ത ഏവനും ജനത്തിന്റെ ഇടയിൽ നിന്നു ഛേദിക്കപ്പെടും.” എന്നു മോശെ പറഞ്ഞു വല്ലോ.

²⁴അത്രയുമല്ല ശമൂവേൽ ആദിയായി സംസാരിച്ച പ്രവാചകന്മാർ ഒക്കെയും ഈ കാലത്തെക്കുറിച്ചു പ്രസ്താവിച്ചു.

²⁵“ഭൂമിയിലെ സകലവംശങ്ങളും നിന്റെ സന്തതിയിൽ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കപ്പെടും.” എന്നു ദൈവം അബ്രാഹാമിനോടു അരുളി നിങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരോടു ചെയ്ത നിയമത്തിന്റെയും പ്രവാചകന്മാരുടെയും മക്കൾ നിങ്ങൾ തന്നേ.

²⁶നിങ്ങൾക്കു ആദ്യമേ ദൈവം തന്റെ ദാസനായ യേശുവിനെ എഴുന്നേല്പിച്ചു ഔരോരുത്തനെ അവനവന്റെ അകൃത്യങ്ങളിൽ നിന്നു തിരിക്കുന്നതിനാൽ നിങ്ങളെ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അവനെ അയച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

¹³For the promise to Abraham and to his offspring that he would be heir of the world wasn’t through the law, but through the righteousness of faith.

¹⁴For if those who are of the law are heirs, faith is made void, and the promise is made of no effect.

¹⁵For the law produces wrath; for where there is no law, neither is there disobedience.

¹⁶For this cause it is of faith, that it may be according to grace, to the end that the promise may be sure to all the offspring, not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham, who is the father of us all.

¹⁷As it is written, “I have made you a father of many nations.” This is in the presence of him whom he believed: God, who gives life to the dead, and calls the things that are not, as though they were.

¹⁸Against hope, Abraham in hope believed, to the end that he might become a father of many nations, according to that which had been spoken, “So will your offspring be.”

¹⁹Without being weakened in faith, he didn’t consider his own body, already having been worn out, (he being about a hundred years old), and the deadness of Sarah’s womb.

²⁰Yet, looking to the promise of God, he didn’t waver through unbelief, but grew strong through faith, giving glory to God,

²¹and being fully assured that what he had promised, he was also able to perform.

²²Therefore it also was “credited to him for righteousness.”

²³Now it was not written that it was accounted to him for his sake alone,

²⁴but for our sake also, to whom it will be accounted, who believe in him who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead,

²⁵who was delivered up for our trespasses, and was raised for our justification.

¹³ലോകാവകാശി ആകും എന്നുള്ള വാഗ്ദത്തം അബ്രാഹാമിന്നോ അവന്റെ സന്തതിക്കോ ന്യായപ്രമാണത്താലല്ല വിശ്വാസത്തിന്റെ നീതിയാലല്ലോ ലഭിച്ചതു.

¹⁴എന്നാൽ ന്യായപ്രമാണമുള്ളവർ അവകാശികൾ എങ്കിൽ വിശ്വാസം വ്യർത്ഥവും വാഗ്ദത്തം ദുർബ്ബലവും എന്നു വരും.

¹⁵ന്യായപ്രമാണമോ കോപത്തിന്നു ഹേതുവാകുന്നു; ന്യായപ്രമാണം ഇല്ലാത്തേടത്തു ലംഘനവുമില്ല.

¹⁶അതു കൊണ്ടു കൃപാദാനം എന്നു വരേണ്ടതിന്നു വിശ്വാസത്താലത്രേ അവകാശികൾ ആകുന്നതു; വാഗ്ദത്തം സകലസന്തതിക്കും, ന്യായപ്രമാണമുള്ളവർക്കും മാത്രമല്ല, അബ്രാഹാമിന്റെ വിശ്വാസമുള്ളവർക്കും കൂടെ ഉറപ്പാകേണ്ടതിന്നു തന്നെ.

¹⁷മരിച്ചവരെ ജീവിപ്പിക്കയും ഇല്ലാത്തതിനെ ഉള്ളതിനെപ്പോലെ വിളിക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്നവനായി താൻ വിശ്വസിച്ച ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ദൃഷ്ടിയിൽ അവൻ നമുക്കെല്ലാവർക്കും പിതാവാകേണ്ടതിന്നു തന്നേ. “ഞാൻ നിന്നെ ബഹുജാതികൾക്കു പിതാവാക്കിവെച്ചു” എന്നു എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ.

¹⁸“നിന്റെ സന്തതി ഇവ്വണ്ണം ആകും എന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നതുപോലെ താൻ ബഹുജാതികൾക്കു പിതാവാകും എന്നു അവൻ ആശെക്കു വിരോധമായി ആശയോടെ വിശ്വസിച്ചു.

¹⁹അവൻ ഏകദേശം നൂറു വയസ്സുള്ളവനാകയാൽ തന്റെ ശരീരം നിർജ്ജീവമായിപ്പോയതും സാറയുടെ ഗർഭപാത്രത്തിന്റെ നിർജ്ജീവത്വവും ഗ്രഹിച്ചിട്ടും വിശ്വാസത്തിൽ ക്ഷീണിച്ചില്ല.

²⁰ദൈവത്തിന്റെ വാഗ്ദത്തത്തിങ്കൽ അവിശ്വാസത്താൽ സംശയിക്കാതെ വിശ്വാസത്തിൽ ശക്തിപ്പെട്ടു ദൈവത്തിന്നു മഹത്വം കൊടുത്തു,

²¹അവൻ വാഗ്ദത്തം ചെയ്തതു പ്രവർത്തിപ്പാനും ശക്തൻ എന്നു പൂർണ്ണമായി ഉറെച്ചു.

²²അതുകൊണ്ടു അതു അവന്നു നീതിയായി കണക്കിട്ടു.

²³അവന്നു കണക്കിട്ടു എന്നു എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നതു അവനെ വിചാരിച്ചു മാത്രം അല്ല,

²⁴നമ്മെ വിചാരിച്ചുംകൂടെ ആകുന്നു. നമ്മുടെ അതിക്രമങ്ങൾ നിമിത്തം മരണത്തിന്നു ഏല്പിച്ചും നമ്മുടെ നീതീകരണത്തിന്നായി ഉയിർപ്പിച്ചുമിരിക്കുന്ന

²⁵നമ്മുടെ കർത്താവായ യേശുവിനെ മരിച്ചവരിൽനിന്നു ഉയർപ്പിച്ചവനിൽ വിശ്വസിക്കുന്ന നമുക്കും കണക്കിടുവാനുള്ളതാകയാൽ തന്നേ.
