³⁴But the Pharisees, when they heard that he had silenced the Sadducees, gathered themselves together.

³⁵One of them, a lawyer, asked him a question, testing him.

³⁶“Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the law?”

³⁷Jesus said to him, “ ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’

³⁸This is the first and great commandment.

³⁹A second likewise is this, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’

⁴⁰The whole law and the prophets depend on these two commandments.”

⁴¹Now while the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them a question,

⁴²saying, “What do you think of the Christ? Whose son is he?”

⁴³He said to them, “How then does David in the Spirit call him Lord, saying,

⁴⁴‘The Lord said to my Lord,

³⁴സദൂക്യരെ അവൻ മിണ്ടാതാക്കിയപ്രകാരം കേട്ടിട്ടു പരീശന്മാർ ഒന്നിച്ചു കൂടി,

³⁵അവരിൽ ഒരു വൈദികൻ അവനെ പരീക്ഷിച്ചു:

³⁶ഗുരോ, ന്യാപ്രമാണത്തിൽ ഏതു കല്പന വലിയതു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

³⁷യേശു അവനോടു: നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ കർത്താവിനെ നീ പൂർണ്ണഹൃദയത്തോടും പൂർണ്ണാത്മാവോടും പൂർണ്ണ മനസ്സോടും കൂടെ സ്നേഹിക്കേണം.

³⁸ഇതാകുന്നു വലിയതും ഒന്നാമത്തേതുമായ കല്പന രണ്ടാമത്തേതു അതിനോടു സമം:

³⁹കൂട്ടുകാരനെ നിന്നെപ്പോലെ തന്നേ സ്നേഹിക്കേണം.

⁴⁰ഈ രണ്ടു കല്പനകളിൽ സകലന്യായപ്രമാണവും പ്രവാചകന്മാരും അടങ്ങിയിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

⁴¹പരീശന്മാർ ഒരുമിച്ചു കൂടിയിരിക്കുമ്പോൾ യേശു അവരോടു:

⁴²ക്രിസ്തുവിനെക്കുറിച്ചു നിങ്ങൾക്കു എന്തു തോന്നുന്നു? അവൻ ആരുടെ പുത്രൻ എന്നി ചോദിച്ചു; ദാവീദിന്റെ പുത്രൻ എന്നു അവർ പറഞ്ഞു.

²⁷Some of the Sadducees came to him, those who deny that there is a resurrection.

²⁸They asked him, “Teacher, Moses wrote to us that if a man’s brother dies having a wife, and he is childless, his brother should take the wife and raise up children for his brother.

²⁹There were therefore seven brothers. The first took a wife, and died childless.

³⁰The second took her as wife, and he died childless.

³¹The third took her, and likewise the seven all left no children, and died.

³²Afterward the woman also died.

³³Therefore in the resurrection whose wife of them will she be? For the seven had her as a wife.”

³⁴Jesus said to them, “The children of this age marry and are given in marriage.

³⁵But those who are considered worthy to attain to that age and the resurrection from the dead neither marry nor are given in marriage.

³⁶For they can’t die any more, for they are like the angels and are children of God, being children of the resurrection.

³⁷But that the dead are raised, even Moses showed at the bush, when he called the Lord ‘The God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.’

³⁸Now he is not the God of the dead, but of the living, for all are alive to him.”

³⁹Some of the scribes answered, “Teacher, you speak well.”

⁴⁰They didn’t dare to ask him any more questions.

²⁷പുനരുത്ഥാനം ഇല്ല എന്നു പറയുന്ന സദൂക്യരിൽ ചിലർ അടുത്തു വന്നു അവനോടു ചോദിച്ചതു:

²⁸ഗുരോ, ഒരുത്തന്റെ സഹോദരൻ വിവാഹം കഴിച്ചിട്ടു മക്കളില്ലാതെ മരിച്ചുപോയാൽ അവന്റെ സഹോദരൻ അവന്റെ ഭാര്യയെ പരിഗ്രഹിച്ചു സഹോദരന്നു സന്തതിയെ ജനിപ്പിക്കേണം എന്നു മോശെ എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

³⁶അവൻ പുനരുത്ഥാനപുത്രന്മാരാകയാൽ ദൈവദൂതതുല്യരും ദൈവ പുത്രന്മാരും ആകുന്നു.

³⁷മരിച്ചവർ ഉയിർത്തെഴുന്നേലക്കുന്നു എന്നതോ മോശെയും മുൾപ്പടർപ്പുഭാഗത്തു കർത്താവിനെ അബ്രാഹാമിന്റെ ദൈവവും യിസ്ഹാക്കിന്റെ ദൈവവും യാക്കോബിന്റെ ദൈവവും എന്നു പറയുന്നതിനാൽ സൂചിപ്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

³⁸ദൈവമോ മരിച്ചവരുടെ ദൈവമല്ല, ജീവനുള്ളവരുടെ ദൈവമത്രേ; എല്ലാവരും അവന്നു ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ.

³⁹അതിന്നു ചില ശാസ്ത്രിമാർ: ഗുരോ, നീ പറഞ്ഞതു ശരി എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

¹“ ‘When anyone offers an offering of a meal offering to Yahweh, his offering shall be of fine flour. He shall pour oil on it, and put frankincense on it.

²He shall bring it to Aaron’s sons, the priests. He shall take his handful of its fine flour, and of its oil, with all its frankincense, and the priest shall burn its memorial on the altar, an offering made by fire, of a pleasant aroma to Yahweh.

³That which is left of the meal offering shall be Aaron’s and his sons’. It is a most holy part of the offerings of Yahweh made by fire.

¹ആരെങ്കിലും യഹോവേക്കു ഭോജനയാഗമായ വഴിപാടു കഴിക്കുമ്പോൾ അവന്റെ വഴിപാടു നേരിയ മാവു ആയിരിക്കേണം; അവൻ അതിന്മേൽ എണ്ണ ഒഴിച്ചു കുന്തുരുക്കവും ഇടേണം.

²⁷Why do you say, Jacob,

²⁸Haven’t you known?

²⁹He gives power to the weak.

³⁰Even the youths faint and get weary,

³¹but those who wait for Yahweh will renew their strength.

²⁷എന്നാൽ എന്റെ വഴി യഹോവേക്കു മറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു; എന്റെ ന്യായം എന്റെ ദൈവം കാണാതെ കടന്നുപോയിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു, യാക്കോബേ, നീ പറകയും യിസ്രായേലേ, നീ സംസാരിക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്നതെന്തു?

³⁰ബാല്യക്കാർ ക്ഷീണിച്ചു തളർന്നുപോകും; യൌവനക്കാരും ഇടറിവീഴും.

³¹എങ്കിലും യഹോവയെ കാത്തിരിക്കുന്നവർ ശക്തിയെ പുതുക്കും; അവർ കഴുകന്മാരെപ്പോലെ ചിറകു അടിച്ചു കയറും; അവർ തളർന്നുപോകാതെ ഔടുകയും ക്ഷീണിച്ചുപോകാതെ നടക്കുകയും ചെയ്യും.

²²They listened to him until he said that; then they lifted up their voice and said, “Rid the earth of this fellow, for he isn’t fit to live!”

²³As they cried out, threw off their cloaks, and threw dust into the air,

²⁴the commanding officer commanded him to be brought into the barracks, ordering him to be examined by scourging, that he might know for what crime they shouted against him like that.

²⁵When they had tied him up with straps, Paul asked the centurion who stood by, “Is it lawful for you to scourge a man who is a Roman, and not found guilty?”

²⁶When the centurion heard it, he went to the commanding officer and told him, “Watch what you are about to do, for this man is a Roman!”

²⁷The commanding officer came and asked him, “Tell me, are you a Roman?”

²⁸The commanding officer answered, “I bought my citizenship for a great price.”

²⁹Immediately those who were about to examine him departed from him, and the commanding officer also was afraid when he realized that he was a Roman, because he had bound him.

²⁷സഹസ്രാധിപൻ വന്നു: നീ റോമപൗരൻ തന്നേയോ? എന്നോടു പറക എന്നു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു:

²⁸അതെ എന്നു അവൻ പറഞ്ഞു. ഞാൻ ഏറിയ മുതൽ കൊടുത്തു ഈ പൗരത്വം സമ്പാദിച്ചു എന്നു സഹസ്രാധിപൻ പറഞ്ഞതിന്നു: ഞാനോ അങ്ങനെ ജനിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പൗലൊസ് പറഞ്ഞു.

¹³I command you before God who gives life to all things, and before Christ Jesus who before Pontius Pilate testified the good confession,

¹⁴that you keep the commandment without spot, blameless until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ,

¹⁵which at the right time he will show, who is the blessed and only Ruler, the King of kings and Lord of lords.

¹⁶He alone has immortality, dwelling in unapproachable light, whom no man has seen nor can see, to whom be honor and eternal power. Amen.

¹⁷Charge those who are rich in this present age that they not be arrogant, nor have their hope set on the uncertainty of riches, but on the living God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy;

¹⁸that they do good, that they be rich in good works, that they be ready to distribute, willing to share;

¹⁹laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold of eternal life.

²⁰Timothy, guard that which is committed to you, turning away from the empty chatter and oppositions of what is falsely called knowledge,

²¹which some profess, and thus have wandered from the faith.

¹Then Jesus spoke to the multitudes and to his disciples,

²saying, “The scribes and the Pharisees sit on Moses’ seat.

³All things therefore whatever they tell you to observe, observe and do, but don’t do their works; for they say, and don’t do.

⁴For they bind heavy burdens that are grievous to be borne, and lay them on men’s shoulders; but they themselves will not lift a finger to help them.

⁵But they do all their works to be seen by men. They make their phylacteries broad and enlarge the fringes of their garments,

⁶and love the place of honor at feasts, the best seats in the synagogues,

⁷the salutations in the marketplaces, and to be called ‘Rabbi, Rabbi’ by men.

⁸But you are not to be called ‘Rabbi’, for one is your teacher, the Christ, and all of you are brothers.

⁹Call no man on the earth your father, for one is your Father, he who is in heaven.

¹⁰Neither be called masters, for one is your master, the Christ.

¹¹But he who is greatest among you will be your servant.

¹²Whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.

¹അനന്തരം യേശു പുരുഷാരത്തോടും തന്റെ ശിഷ്യന്മാരോടും പറഞ്ഞതു:

²ശാസ്ത്രിമാരും പരീശന്മാരും മോശെയുടെ പീഠത്തിൽ ഇരിക്കുന്നു.

³ആകയാൽ അവർ നിങ്ങളോടു പറയുന്നതു ഒക്കെയും പ്രമാണിച്ചു ചെയ്‍വിൻ ; അവരുടെ പ്രവൃത്തികൾ പോലെ ചെയ്യരുതു താനും. അവർ പറയുന്നതല്ലാതെ ചെയ്യുന്നില്ലല്ലോ.

⁴അവർ ഘനമുള്ള ചുമടുകളെ കെട്ടി മനുഷ്യരുടെ തോളിൽ വെക്കുന്നു; ഒരു വിരൽ കെണ്ടുപോലും അവയെ തൊടുവാൻ അവർക്കും മനസ്സില്ല.

⁵അവർ തങ്ങളുടെ പ്രവൃത്തികൾ എല്ലാം മനുഷ്യർ കാണേണ്ടതിന്നത്രേ ചെയ്യുന്നതു; തങ്ങളുടെ മന്ത്രപ്പട്ട വീതിയാക്കി തൊങ്ങൽ വലുതാക്കുന്നു.

⁹നിങ്ങളോ എല്ലാവരും സഹോദരന്മാർ. ഭൂമിയിൽ ആരെയും പിതാവു എന്നു വിളിക്കരുതു; ഒരുത്തൻ അത്രേ നിങ്ങളുടെ പിതാവു, സ്വർഗ്ഗസ്ഥൻ തന്നേ.

¹⁰നിങ്ങൾ നായകന്മാർ എന്നും പേർ എടുക്കരുതു, ഒരുത്തൻ അത്രേ നിങ്ങളുടെ നായകൻ , ക്രിസ്തു തന്നെ.

¹¹നിങ്ങളിൽ ഏറ്റവും വലിയവൻ നിങ്ങളുടെ ശുശ്രൂഷക്കാരൻ ആകേണം.

¹²തന്നെത്താൻ ഉയർത്തുന്നവൻ എല്ലാം താഴ്ത്തപ്പെടും; തന്നെത്താൻ താഴ്ത്തുന്നവൻ എല്ലാം ഉയർത്തപ്പെടും.
