¹⁷As he was going out into the way, one ran to him, knelt before him, and asked him, “Good Teacher, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?”

¹⁸Jesus said to him, “Why do you call me good? No one is good except one—God.

¹⁹You know the commandments: ‘Do not murder,’ ‘Do not commit adultery,’ ‘Do not steal,’ ‘Do not give false testimony,’ ‘Do not defraud,’ ‘Honor your father and mother.’ ”

²⁰He said to him, “Teacher, I have observed all these things from my youth.”

²¹Jesus looking at him loved him, and said to him, “One thing you lack. Go, sell whatever you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me, taking up the cross.”

²²But his face fell at that saying, and he went away sorrowful, for he was one who had great possessions.

²³Jesus looked around and said to his disciples, “How difficult it is for those who have riches to enter into God’s Kingdom!”

²⁴The disciples were amazed at his words. But Jesus answered again, “Children, how hard it is for those who trust in riches to enter into God’s Kingdom!

²⁵It is easier for a camel to go through a needle’s eye than for a rich man to enter into God’s Kingdom.”

²⁶They were exceedingly astonished, saying to him, “Then who can be saved?”

²⁷Jesus, looking at them, said, “With men it is impossible, but not with God, for all things are possible with God.”

¹³Then little children were brought to him that he should lay his hands on them and pray; and the disciples rebuked them.

¹⁴But Jesus said, “Allow the little children, and don’t forbid them to come to me; for the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to ones like these.”

¹⁵He laid his hands on them, and departed from there.

¹⁶Behold, one came to him and said, “Good teacher, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?”

¹⁷He said to him, “Why do you call me good? No one is good but one, that is, God. But if you want to enter into life, keep the commandments.”

¹⁸He said to him, “Which ones?”

¹⁹‘Honor your father and your mother.’ And, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ ”

²⁰The young man said to him, “All these things I have observed from my youth. What do I still lack?”

²¹Jesus said to him, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell what you have, and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.”

²²But when the young man heard this, he went away sad, for he was one who had great possessions.

²³Jesus said to his disciples, “Most certainly I say to you, a rich man will enter into the Kingdom of Heaven with difficulty.

²⁴Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through a needle’s eye than for a rich man to enter into God’s Kingdom.”

²⁵When the disciples heard it, they were exceedingly astonished, saying, “Who then can be saved?”

²⁶Looking at them, Jesus said, “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

²⁹They came to Jacob their father, to the land of Canaan, and told him all that had happened to them, saying,

³⁰“The man, the lord of the land, spoke roughly with us, and took us for spies of the country.

³¹We said to him, ‘We are honest men. We are no spies.

³²We are twelve brothers, sons of our father; one is no more, and the youngest is today with our father in the land of Canaan.’

³³The man, the lord of the land, said to us, ‘By this I will know that you are honest men: leave one of your brothers with me, and take grain for the famine of your houses, and go your way.

³⁴Bring your youngest brother to me. Then I will know that you are not spies, but that you are honest men. So I will deliver your brother to you, and you shall trade in the land.’ ”

³⁵As they emptied their sacks, behold, each man’s bundle of money was in his sack. When they and their father saw their bundles of money, they were afraid.

³⁶Jacob, their father, said to them, “You have bereaved me of my children! Joseph is no more, Simeon is no more, and you want to take Benjamin away. All these things are against me.”

¹⁶Yahweh, who makes a way in the sea,

¹⁷who brings out the chariot and horse,

¹⁸“Don’t remember the former things,

¹⁹Behold, I will do a new thing.

²⁰The animals of the field, the jackals and the ostriches, shall honor me,

²¹the people which I formed for myself,

²²Yet you have not called on me, Jacob;

²³You have not brought me any of your sheep for burnt offerings,

²⁴You have bought me no sweet cane with money,

²⁵I, even I, am he who blots out your transgressions for my own sake;

²⁷When the seven days were almost completed, the Jews from Asia, when they saw him in the temple, stirred up all the multitude and laid hands on him,

²⁸crying out, “Men of Israel, help! This is the man who teaches all men everywhere against the people, and the law, and this place. Moreover, he also brought Greeks into the temple and has defiled this holy place!”

²⁹For they had seen Trophimus the Ephesian with him in the city, and they supposed that Paul had brought him into the temple.

³⁰All the city was moved and the people ran together. They seized Paul and dragged him out of the temple. Immediately the doors were shut.

³¹As they were trying to kill him, news came up to the commanding officer of the regiment that all Jerusalem was in an uproar.

³²Immediately he took soldiers and centurions and ran down to them. They, when they saw the chief captain and the soldiers, stopped beating Paul.

³³Then the commanding officer came near, arrested him, commanded him to be bound with two chains, and inquired who he was and what he had done.

³⁴Some shouted one thing and some another, among the crowd. When he couldn’t find out the truth because of the noise, he commanded him to be brought into the barracks.

³⁵When he came to the stairs, he was carried by the soldiers because of the violence of the crowd;

³⁶for the multitude of the people followed after, crying out, “Away with him!”

³⁷As Paul was about to be brought into the barracks, he asked the commanding officer, “May I speak to you?”

³⁸Aren’t you then the Egyptian who before these days stirred up to sedition and led out into the wilderness the four thousand men of the Assassins?”

³⁹But Paul said, “I am a Jew from Tarsus in Cilicia, a citizen of no insignificant city. I beg you, allow me to speak to the people.”

⁴⁰When he had given him permission, Paul, standing on the stairs, beckoned with his hand to the people. When there was a great silence, he spoke to them in the Hebrew language, saying,

³⁸കുറെ നാൾ മുമ്പെ കലഹം ഉണ്ടാക്കി നാലായിരം കട്ടാരക്കാരെ മരുഭൂമിയിലേക്കു കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടുപോയ മിസ്രയീമ്യൻ നീ അല്ലയോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

³⁹അതിന്നു പൗലൊസ്: ഞാൻ കിലിക്യയിൽ തർസൊസ് എന്ന പ്രസിദ്ധനഗരത്തിലെ പൗരനായോരു യെഹൂദൻ ആകുന്നു. ജനത്തോടു സംസാരിപ്പാൻ അനുവദിക്കേണം എന്നു അപേക്ഷിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

⁴⁰അവൻ അനുവദിച്ചപ്പോൾ പൗലൊസ് പടിക്കെട്ടിന്മേൽ നിന്നുകൊണ്ടു ജനത്തോടു ആംഗ്യം കാട്ടി, വളരെ മൗനമായ ശേഷം എബ്രായഭാഷയിൽ വിളിച്ചുപറഞ്ഞതാവിതു:

⁶Your boasting is not good. Don’t you know that a little yeast leavens the whole lump?

⁷Purge out the old yeast, that you may be a new lump, even as you are unleavened. For indeed Christ, our Passover, has been sacrificed in our place.

⁸Therefore let’s keep the feast, not with old yeast, neither with the yeast of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.

⁹I wrote to you in my letter to have no company with sexual sinners;

¹⁰yet not at all meaning with the sexual sinners of this world, or with the covetous and extortionists, or with idolaters, for then you would have to leave the world.

¹¹But as it is, I wrote to you not to associate with anyone who is called a brother who is a sexual sinner, or covetous, or an idolater, or a slanderer, or a drunkard, or an extortionist. Don’t even eat with such a person.

¹²For what do I have to do with also judging those who are outside? Don’t you judge those who are within?

¹³But those who are outside, God judges. “Put away the wicked man from among yourselves.”

¹²പുറത്തുള്ളവരെ വിധിപ്പാൻ എനിക്കു എന്തു കാർയ്യം? നിങ്ങൾ അകത്തുള്ളവരെ അല്ലയോ വിധിക്കുന്നതു; പുറത്തുള്ളവരെ ദൈവം വിധിക്കുന്നു.

¹³ആ ദുഷ്ടനെ നിങ്ങളുടെ ഇടയിൽനിന്നു നീക്കിക്കളവിൻ .

¹⁸A certain ruler asked him, saying, “Good Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?”

¹⁹Jesus asked him, “Why do you call me good? No one is good, except one: God.

²⁰You know the commandments: ‘Don’t commit adultery,’ ‘Don’t murder,’ ‘Don’t steal,’ ‘Don’t give false testimony,’ ‘Honor your father and your mother.’ ”

²¹He said, “I have observed all these things from my youth up.”

²²When Jesus heard these things, he said to him, “You still lack one thing. Sell all that you have and distribute it to the poor. Then you will have treasure in heaven; then come, follow me.”

²³But when he heard these things, he became very sad, for he was very rich.

²⁴Jesus, seeing that he became very sad, said, “How hard it is for those who have riches to enter into God’s Kingdom!

²⁵For it is easier for a camel to enter in through a needle’s eye than for a rich man to enter into God’s Kingdom.”

²⁶Those who heard it said, “Then who can be saved?”

²⁷But he said, “The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.”

¹⁸ഒരു പ്രമാണി അവനോടു: നല്ല ഗുരോ, ഞാൻ നിത്യജീവനെ അവകാശമാക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു എന്തു ചെയ്യേണം എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

¹⁹അതിന്നു യേശു: എന്നെ നല്ലവൻ എന്നു പറയുന്നതു എന്തു? ദൈവം ഒരുവനല്ലാതെ നല്ലവൻ ആരും ഇല്ല. വ്യഭിചാരം ചെയ്യരുതു:

²⁰കുല ചെയ്യരുതു; മോഷ്ടിക്കരുതു; കള്ളസ്സാക്ഷ്യം പറയരുതു; നിന്റെ അപ്പനെയും അമ്മയെയും ബഹുമാനിക്ക എന്നീ കല്പനകളെ നീ അറിയുന്നുവല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

²¹ഇവ ഒക്കെയും ഞാൻ ചെറുപ്പം മുതൽ കാത്തു കൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു അവൻ പറഞ്ഞതു കേട്ടിട്ടു

²²യേശു: ഇനി ഒരു കുറവു നിനക്കുണ്ടു; നിനക്കുള്ളതൊക്കെയും വിറ്റു ദരിദ്രന്മാർക്കും പകുത്തുകൊടുക്ക; എന്നാൽ സ്വർഗ്ഗത്തിൽ നിനക്കു നിക്ഷേപം ഉണ്ടാകും; പിന്നെ വന്നു എന്നെ അനുഗമിക്ക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

²³അവൻ എത്രയും ധനവാനാകകൊണ്ടു ഇതു കേട്ടിട്ടു അതിദുഃഖതിനായിത്തീർന്നു.

²⁴യേശു അവനെ കണ്ടിട്ടു: സമ്പത്തുള്ളവർ ദൈവരാജ്യത്തിൽ കടക്കുന്നതു എത്ര പ്രയാസം!

²⁵ധനവാൻ ദൈവരാജ്യത്തിൽ കടക്കുന്നതിനെക്കാൾ ഒട്ടകം സൂചിക്കുഴയൂടെ കടക്കുന്നതു എളുപ്പം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

²⁶ഇതു കേട്ടവർ: എന്നാൽ രക്ഷിക്കപ്പെടുവാൻ ആർക്കും കഴിയും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

²⁷അതിന്നു അവൻ : മനുഷ്യരാൽ അസാദ്ധ്യമായതു ദൈവത്താൽ സാദ്ധ്യമാകുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
