¹⁴He called all the multitude to himself and said to them, “Hear me, all of you, and understand.

¹⁵There is nothing from outside of the man that going into him can defile him; but the things which proceed out of the man are those that defile the man.

¹⁶If anyone has ears to hear, let him hear!”

¹⁷When he had entered into a house away from the multitude, his disciples asked him about the parable.

¹⁸He said to them, “Are you also without understanding? Don’t you perceive that whatever goes into the man from outside can’t defile him,

¹⁹because it doesn’t go into his heart, but into his stomach, then into the latrine, making all foods clean?”

²⁰He said, “That which proceeds out of the man, that defiles the man.

²¹For from within, out of the hearts of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, sexual sins, murders, thefts,

²²covetings, wickedness, deceit, lustful desires, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, and foolishness.

²³All these evil things come from within and defile the man.”

¹⁴പിന്നെ അവൻ പുരുഷാരത്തെ അരികെ വിളിച്ചു അവരോടു: എല്ലാവരും കേട്ടു ഗ്രഹിച്ചുകൊൾവിൻ .

¹Then the Pharisees and some of the scribes gathered together to him, having come from Jerusalem.

²Now when they saw some of his disciples eating bread with defiled, that is unwashed, hands, they found fault.

³(For the Pharisees and all the Jews don’t eat unless they wash their hands and forearms, holding to the tradition of the elders.

⁴They don’t eat when they come from the marketplace unless they bathe themselves, and there are many other things which they have received to hold to: washings of cups, pitchers, bronze vessels, and couches.)

⁵The Pharisees and the scribes asked him, “Why don’t your disciples walk according to the tradition of the elders, but eat their bread with unwashed hands?”

⁶He answered them, “Well did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written,

⁷They worship me in vain,

⁸“For you set aside the commandment of God, and hold tightly to the tradition of men—the washing of pitchers and cups, and you do many other such things.”

⁹He said to them, “Full well do you reject the commandment of God, that you may keep your tradition.

¹⁰For Moses said, ‘Honor your father and your mother;’ and, ‘He who speaks evil of father or mother, let him be put to death.’

¹¹But you say, ‘If a man tells his father or his mother, “Whatever profit you might have received from me is Corban,” ’ ” that is to say, given to God,

¹²“then you no longer allow him to do anything for his father or his mother,

¹³making void the word of God by your tradition which you have handed down. You do many things like this.”

¹യെരൂശലേമിൽ നിന്നു പരീശന്മാരും ചില ശാസ്ത്രിമാരും അവന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വന്നു കൂടി.

¹Yahweh said to Moses,

²“Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them, ‘I am Yahweh your God.

³You shall not do as they do in the land of Egypt, where you lived. You shall not do as they do in the land of Canaan, where I am bringing you. You shall not follow their statutes.

⁴You shall do my ordinances. You shall keep my statutes and walk in them. I am Yahweh your God.

⁵You shall therefore keep my statutes and my ordinances, which if a man does, he shall live in them. I am Yahweh.

¹യഹോവ പിന്നെയും മോശെയോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതു:

²നീ യിസ്രായേൽമക്കളോടു പറയേണ്ടതു എന്തെന്നാൽ: ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ ആകുന്നു;

¹Then Joshua called the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half-tribe of Manasseh,

²and said to them, “You have kept all that Moses the servant of Yahweh commanded you, and have listened to my voice in all that I commanded you.

³You have not left your brothers these many days to this day, but have performed the duty of the commandment of Yahweh your God.

⁴Now Yahweh your God has given rest to your brothers, as he spoke to them. Therefore now return and go to your tents, to the land of your possession, which Moses the servant of Yahweh gave you beyond the Jordan.

⁵Only take diligent heed to do the commandment and the law which Moses the servant of Yahweh commanded you, to love Yahweh your God, to walk in all his ways, to keep his commandments, to hold fast to him, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul.”

⁶So Joshua blessed them, and sent them away; and they went to their tents.

¹അക്കാലത്തു യോശുവ രൂബേന്യരേയും ഗാദ്യരെയും മനശ്ശെയുടെ പാതിഗോത്രത്തെയും വിളിച്ചു.

¹Yahweh’s word came to me, saying,

²“Son of man, prophesy against the shepherds of Israel. Prophesy, and tell them, even the shepherds, ‘The Lord Yahweh says: “Woe to the shepherds of Israel who feed themselves! Shouldn’t the shepherds feed the sheep?

³You eat the fat. You clothe yourself with the wool. You kill the fatlings, but you don’t feed the sheep.

⁴You haven’t strengthened the diseased. You haven’t healed that which was sick. You haven’t bound up that which was broken. You haven’t brought back that which was driven away. You haven’t sought that which was lost, but you have ruled over them with force and with rigor.

⁵They were scattered, because there was no shepherd. They became food to all the animals of the field, and were scattered.

⁶My sheep wandered through all the mountains and on every high hill. Yes, my sheep were scattered on all the surface of the earth. There was no one who searched or sought.”

¹യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു എനിക്കുണ്ടായതെന്തെന്നാൽ:

²When Peter had come up to Jerusalem, those who were of the circumcision contended with him,

³saying, “You went in to uncircumcised men and ate with them!”

⁴But Peter began, and explained to them in order, saying,

⁵“I was in the city of Joppa praying, and in a trance I saw a vision: a certain container descending, like it was a great sheet let down from heaven by four corners. It came as far as me.

⁶When I had looked intently at it, I considered, and saw the four-footed animals of the earth, wild animals, creeping things, and birds of the sky.

⁷I also heard a voice saying to me, ‘Rise, Peter, kill and eat!’

⁸But I said, ‘Not so, Lord, for nothing unholy or unclean has ever entered into my mouth.’

⁹But a voice answered me the second time out of heaven, ‘What God has cleansed, don’t you call unclean.’

¹⁰This was done three times, and all were drawn up again into heaven.

²⁸For he is not a Jew who is one outwardly, neither is that circumcision which is outward in the flesh;

²⁹but he is a Jew who is one inwardly, and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, not in the letter; whose praise is not from men, but from God.

¹Then what advantage does the Jew have? Or what is the profit of circumcision?

²Much in every way! Because first of all, they were entrusted with the revelations of God.

³For what if some were without faith? Will their lack of faith nullify the faithfulness of God?

⁴May it never be! Yes, let God be found true, but every man a liar. As it is written,

⁵But if our unrighteousness commends the righteousness of God, what will we say? Is God unrighteous who inflicts wrath? I speak like men do.

⁶May it never be! For then how will God judge the world?

⁷For if the truth of God through my lie abounded to his glory, why am I also still judged as a sinner?

⁸Why not (as we are slanderously reported, and as some affirm that we say), “Let’s do evil, that good may come?” Those who say so are justly condemned.

²⁸പുറമെ യെഹൂദനായവൻ യെഹൂദനല്ല; പുറമെ ജഡത്തിലുള്ളതു പരിച്ഛേദനയുമല്ല;

³³“No one, when he has lit a lamp, puts it in a cellar or under a basket, but on a stand, that those who come in may see the light.

³⁴The lamp of the body is the eye. Therefore when your eye is good, your whole body is also full of light; but when it is evil, your body also is full of darkness.

³⁵Therefore see whether the light that is in you isn’t darkness.

³⁶If therefore your whole body is full of light, having no part dark, it will be wholly full of light, as when the lamp with its bright shining gives you light.”

³⁷Now as he spoke, a certain Pharisee asked him to dine with him. He went in and sat at the table.

³⁸When the Pharisee saw it, he marveled that he had not first washed himself before dinner.

³⁹The Lord said to him, “Now you Pharisees cleanse the outside of the cup and of the platter, but your inward part is full of extortion and wickedness.

⁴⁰You foolish ones, didn’t he who made the outside make the inside also?

⁴¹But give for gifts to the needy those things which are within, and behold, all things will be clean to you.

³³വിളകൂ കൊളുത്തീട്ടു ആരും നിലവറയിലോ പറയിൻ കീഴിലോ വെക്കാതെ അകത്തു വരുന്നവർ വെളിച്ചം കാണേണ്ടതിന്നു തണ്ടിന്മേൽ അത്രേ വെക്കുന്നതു.

³⁴ശരീരത്തിന്റെ വിളകൂ കണ്ണാകുന്നു; കണ്ണു ചൊവ്വുള്ളതെങ്കിൽ ശരീരം മുഴുവനും പ്രകാശിതമായിരിക്കും; ദോഷമുള്ളതാകിലോ ശരീരവും ഇരുട്ടുള്ളതു തന്നേ.

³⁵ആകയാൽ നിന്നിലുള്ള വെളിച്ചം ഇരുളാകാതിരിപ്പാൻ നോക്കുക.

³⁶നിന്റെ ശരീരം അന്ധകാരമുള്ള അംശം ഒട്ടുമില്ലാതെ മുഴുവനും പ്രകാശിതമായിരുന്നാൽ വിളകൂ തെളക്കംകൊണ്ടു നിന്നെ പ്രകാശിപ്പിക്കുംപോലെ അശേഷം പ്രകാശിതമായിരിക്കും.

³⁷അവൻ സംസാരിക്കുമ്പോൾ തന്നേ ഒരു പരീശൻ തന്നോടുകൂടെ മുത്താഴം കഴിപ്പാൻ അവനെ ക്ഷണിച്ചു; അവനും അകത്തു കടന്നു ഭക്ഷണത്തിന്നിരുന്നു.

³⁸മുത്താഴത്തിന്നു മുമ്പേ കുളിച്ചില്ല എന്നു കണ്ടിട്ടു പരീശൻ ആശ്ചര്യപ്പെട്ടു.

³⁹കർത്താവു അവനോടു: പരീശന്മാരായ നിങ്ങൾ കിണ്ടികിണ്ണങ്ങളുടെ പുറം വെടിപ്പാക്കുന്നു; നിങ്ങളുടെ ഉള്ളിലോ കവർച്ചയും ദുഷ്ടതയും നിറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു.

⁴⁰മൂഢന്മാരേ, പുറം ഉണ്ടാക്കിയവൻ അല്ലയോ അകവും ഉണ്ടാക്കിയതു?

⁴¹അകത്തുള്ളതു ഭിക്ഷയായി കൊടുപ്പിൻ ; എന്നാൽ സകലവും നിങ്ങൾക്കു ശുദ്ധം ആകും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
