⁴³On the next day, he was determined to go out into Galilee, and he found Philip. Jesus said to him, “Follow me.”

⁴⁴Now Philip was from Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter.

⁴⁵Philip found Nathanael, and said to him, “We have found him of whom Moses in the law and also the prophets, wrote: Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.”

⁴⁶Nathanael said to him, “Can any good thing come out of Nazareth?”

⁴⁷Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him, and said about him, “Behold, an Israelite indeed, in whom is no deceit!”

⁴⁸Nathanael said to him, “How do you know me?”

⁴⁹Nathanael answered him, “Rabbi, you are the Son of God! You are King of Israel!”

⁵⁰Jesus answered him, “Because I told you, ‘I saw you underneath the fig tree,’ do you believe? You will see greater things than these!”

⁵¹He said to him, “Most certainly, I tell you all, hereafter you will see heaven opened, and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man.”

³⁵Again, the next day, John was standing with two of his disciples,

³⁶and he looked at Jesus as he walked, and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God!”

³⁷The two disciples heard him speak, and they followed Jesus.

³⁸Jesus turned and saw them following, and said to them, “What are you looking for?”

³⁹He said to them, “Come and see.”

⁴⁰One of the two who heard John and followed him was Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother.

⁴¹He first found his own brother, Simon, and said to him, “We have found the Messiah!” (which is, being interpreted, Christ ).

⁴²He brought him to Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said, “You are Simon the son of Jonah. You shall be called Cephas” (which is by interpretation, Peter).

¹Jacob lived in the land of his father’s travels, in the land of Canaan.

²This is the history of the generations of Jacob. Joseph, being seventeen years old, was feeding the flock with his brothers. He was a boy with the sons of Bilhah and Zilpah, his father’s wives. Joseph brought an evil report of them to their father.

³Now Israel loved Joseph more than all his children, because he was the son of his old age, and he made him a tunic of many colors.

⁴His brothers saw that their father loved him more than all his brothers, and they hated him, and couldn’t speak peaceably to him.

⁵Joseph dreamed a dream, and he told it to his brothers, and they hated him all the more.

⁶He said to them, “Please hear this dream which I have dreamed:

⁷for behold, we were binding sheaves in the field, and behold, my sheaf arose and also stood upright; and behold, your sheaves came around, and bowed down to my sheaf.”

⁸His brothers asked him, “Will you indeed reign over us? Will you indeed have dominion over us?” They hated him all the more for his dreams and for his words.

⁹He dreamed yet another dream, and told it to his brothers, and said, “Behold, I have dreamed yet another dream: and behold, the sun and the moon and eleven stars bowed down to me.”

¹⁰He told it to his father and to his brothers. His father rebuked him, and said to him, “What is this dream that you have dreamed? Will I and your mother and your brothers indeed come to bow ourselves down to the earth before you?”

¹¹His brothers envied him, but his father kept this saying in mind.

¹My heart overflows with a noble theme.

²You are the most excellent of the sons of men.

³Strap your sword on your thigh, O mighty one,

⁴In your majesty ride on victoriously on behalf of truth, humility, and righteousness.

⁵Your arrows are sharp.

⁶Your throne, God, is forever and ever.

⁷You have loved righteousness, and hated wickedness.

⁸All your garments smell like myrrh, aloes, and cassia.

⁹Kings’ daughters are among your honorable women.

¹⁰Listen, daughter, consider, and turn your ear.

¹¹So the king will desire your beauty,

¹²The daughter of Tyre comes with a gift.

¹³The princess inside is all glorious.

¹⁴She shall be led to the king in embroidered work.

¹⁵With gladness and rejoicing they shall be led.

¹⁶Your sons will take the place of your fathers.

¹⁷I will make your name to be remembered in all generations.

¹In that day, this song will be sung in the land of Judah:

²Open the gates, that the righteous nation may enter:

³You will keep whoever’s mind is steadfast in perfect peace,

⁴Trust in Yahweh forever;

⁵For he has brought down those who dwell on high, the lofty city.

⁶The foot shall tread it down,

⁷The way of the just is uprightness.

⁸Yes, in the way of your judgments, Yahweh, we have waited for you.

⁹With my soul I have desired you in the night.

¹⁰Let favor be shown to the wicked,

¹¹Yahweh, your hand is lifted up, yet they don’t see;

¹²Yahweh, you will ordain peace for us,

²¹Beloved, if our hearts don’t condemn us, we have boldness toward God;

²²so whatever we ask, we receive from him, because we keep his commandments and do the things that are pleasing in his sight.

²³This is his commandment, that we should believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and love one another, even as he commanded.

²⁴He who keeps his commandments remains in him, and he in him. By this we know that he remains in us, by the Spirit which he gave us.

²¹പ്രിയമുള്ളവരേ, ഹൃദയം നമ്മെ കുററം വിധിക്കുന്നില്ലെങ്കിൽ നമുക്കു ദൈവത്തോടു പ്രാഗത്ഭ്യം ഉണ്ടു.

²⁴അവന്റെ കല്പനകളെ പ്രമാണിക്കുന്നവൻ അവനിലും അവൻ ഇവനിലും വസിക്കുന്നു. അവൻ നമ്മിൽ വസിക്കുന്നു എന്നു അവൻ നമുക്കു തന്ന ആത്മാവിനാൽ നാം അറിയുന്നു.

²³By faith Moses, when he was born, was hidden for three months by his parents, because they saw that he was a beautiful child; and they were not afraid of the king’s commandment.

²⁴By faith Moses, when he had grown up, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter,

²⁵choosing rather to share ill treatment with God’s people than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a time,

²⁶considering the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures of Egypt; for he looked to the reward.

²⁷By faith he left Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king; for he endured, as seeing him who is invisible.

²⁸By faith he kept the Passover and the sprinkling of the blood, that the destroyer of the firstborn should not touch them.

²⁹By faith they passed through the Red Sea as on dry land. When the Egyptians tried to do so, they were swallowed up.

³⁰By faith the walls of Jericho fell down after they had been encircled for seven days.

³¹By faith Rahab the prostitute didn’t perish with those who were disobedient, having received the spies in peace.

²³വിശ്വാസത്താൽ മോശെയുടെ ജനനത്തിങ്കൽ ശിശു സുന്ദരൻ എന്നു അമ്മയപ്പന്മാർ കണ്ടു: രാജാവിന്റെ കല്പന ഭയപ്പെടാതെ അവനെ മൂന്നു മാസം ഒളിപ്പിച്ചുവെച്ചു.

²⁴വിശ്വാസത്താൽ മോശെ താൻ വളർന്നപ്പോൾ പാപത്തിന്റെ തൽക്കാലഭോഗത്തെക്കാളും ദൈവജനത്തോടു കൂടെ കഷ്ടമനുഭവിക്കുന്നതു തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തു.

²⁵പ്രതിഫലം നോക്കിയതുകൊണ്ടു ഫറവോന്റെ പുത്രിയുടെ മകൻ എന്നു വിളിക്കപ്പെടുന്നതു നിരസിക്കയും

²⁶മിസ്രയീമിലെ നിക്ഷേപങ്ങളെക്കാൾ ക്രിസ്തുവിന്റെ നിന്ദ വലിയ ധനം എന്നു എണ്ണുകയും ചെയ്തു.

²⁷വിശ്വാസത്താൽ അവൻ അദൃശ്യദൈവത്തെ കണ്ടതുപോലെ ഉറെച്ചുനിൽക്കയാൽ രാജാവിന്റെ കോപം ഭയപ്പെടാതെ മിസ്രയീം വിട്ടുപോന്നു.

²⁸വിശ്വാസത്താൽ അവൻ കടിഞ്ഞൂലുകളുടെ സംഹാരകൻ അവരെ തൊടാതിരിപ്പാൻ പെസഹയും ചോരത്തളിയും ആചരിച്ചു.

²⁹വിശ്വാസത്താൽ അവർ കരയിൽ എന്നപോലെ ചെങ്കടലിൽ കൂടി കടന്നു; അതു മിസ്രയീമ്യർ ചെയ്‍വാൻ നോക്കീട്ടു മുങ്ങിപ്പോയി.

³⁰വിശ്വാസത്താൽ അവർ ഏഴു ദിവസം ചുറ്റിനടന്നപ്പോൾ യെരീഹോമതിൽ ഇടിഞ്ഞുവീണു.

³¹വിശ്വാസത്താൽ റാഹാബ് എന്ന വേശ്യ ഒറ്റുകാരെ സമാധാനത്തോടെ കൈക്കൊണ്ടു അവിശ്വാസികളോടുകൂടെ നശിക്കാതിരുന്നു.

⁴⁰The child was growing, and was becoming strong in spirit, being filled with wisdom, and the grace of God was upon him.

⁴¹His parents went every year to Jerusalem at the feast of the Passover.

⁴²When he was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem according to the custom of the feast;

⁴³and when they had fulfilled the days, as they were returning, the boy Jesus stayed behind in Jerusalem. Joseph and his mother didn’t know it,

⁴⁴but supposing him to be in the company, they went a day’s journey; and they looked for him among their relatives and acquaintances.

⁴⁵When they didn’t find him, they returned to Jerusalem, looking for him.

⁴⁶After three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the middle of the teachers, both listening to them and asking them questions.

⁴⁷All who heard him were amazed at his understanding and his answers.

⁴⁸When they saw him, they were astonished; and his mother said to him, “Son, why have you treated us this way? Behold, your father and I were anxiously looking for you.”

⁴⁹He said to them, “Why were you looking for me? Didn’t you know that I must be in my Father’s house?”

⁵⁰They didn’t understand the saying which he spoke to them.

⁵¹And he went down with them and came to Nazareth. He was subject to them, and his mother kept all these sayings in her heart.

⁵²And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men.

⁴⁰പൈതൽ വളർന്നു ജ്ഞാനം നിറഞ്ഞു, ആത്മാവിൽ ബലപ്പെട്ടുപോന്നു; ദൈവകൃപയും അവന്മേൽ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

⁴¹അവന്റെ അമ്മയപ്പന്മാർ ആണ്ടുതോറും പെസഹപെരുനാളിന്നു യെരൂശലേമിലേക്കു പോകും.

⁴²അവന്നു പന്ത്രണ്ടു വയസ്സായപ്പോൾ അവർ പതിവുപോലെ പെരുനാളിന്നു പോയി.

⁴³പെരുനാൾ കഴിഞ്ഞു മടങ്ങിപ്പോരുമ്പോൾ ബാലനായ യേശു യെരൂശലേമിൽ താമസിച്ചു; അമ്മയപ്പന്മാരോ അറിഞ്ഞില്ല.

⁴⁴സഹയാത്രക്കാരുടെ കൂട്ടത്തിൽ ഉണ്ടായിരിക്കും എന്നു അവർ ഊഹിച്ചിട്ടു ഒരു ദിവസത്തെ വഴി പോന്നു; പിന്നെ അവനെ ബന്ധുക്കളുടെയും പരിചയക്കാരുടെയും ഇടയിൽ തിരഞ്ഞു.

⁴⁵കാണാഞ്ഞിട്ടു അവനെ അന്വേഷിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു യെരൂശലേമിലേക്കു മടങ്ങിപ്പോയി.

⁴⁶മൂന്നു നാൾ കഴിഞ്ഞശേഷം അവൻ ദൈവാലയത്തിൽ ഉപദേഷ്ടാക്കന്മാരുടെ നടുവിൽ ഇരിക്കുന്നതും അവരുടെ ഉപദേശം കേൾക്കയും അവരോടു ചോദിക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്നതും കണ്ടു.

⁴⁷അവന്റെ വാക്കു കേട്ടവർക്കെല്ലാവർക്കും അവന്റെ വിവേകത്തിലും ഉത്തരങ്ങളിലും വിസ്മയം തോന്നി. അവനെ കണ്ടിട്ടു അവർ അതിശയിച്ചു;

⁴⁸അമ്മ അവനോടു: മകനേ, ഞങ്ങളോടു ഇങ്ങനെ ചെയ്തതു എന്തു? നിന്റെ അപ്പനും ഞാനും വ്യസനിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു നിന്നെ തിരഞ്ഞു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

⁴⁹അവൻ അവരോടു: എന്നെ തിരഞ്ഞതു എന്തിന്നു? എന്റെ പിതാവിന്നുള്ളതിൽ ഞാൻ ഇരിക്കേണ്ടതു എന്നു നിങ്ങൾ അറിയുന്നില്ലയോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

⁵⁰അവൻ തങ്ങളോടു പറഞ്ഞ വാക്കു അവർ ഗ്രഹിച്ചില്ല.

⁵¹പിന്നെ അവൻ അവരോടുകൂടെ ഇറങ്ങി, നസറെത്തിൽ വന്നു അവർക്കും കീഴടങ്ങിയിരുന്നു. ഈ കാര്യങ്ങൾ എല്ലാം അവന്റെ അമ്മ ഹൃദയത്തിൽ സംഗ്രഹിച്ചു.

⁵²യേശുവോ ജ്ഞാനത്തിലും വളർച്ചയിലും ദൈവത്തിന്റെയും മനുഷ്യരുടെയും കൃപയിലും മുതിർന്നു വന്നു.
