¹In those days, John the Baptizer came, preaching in the wilderness of Judea, saying,

²“Repent, for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand!”

³For this is he who was spoken of by Isaiah the prophet, saying,

⁴Now John himself wore clothing made of camel’s hair with a leather belt around his waist. His food was locusts and wild honey.

⁵Then people from Jerusalem, all of Judea, and all the region around the Jordan went out to him.

⁶They were baptized by him in the Jordan, confessing their sins.

⁷But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming for his baptism, he said to them, “You offspring of vipers, who warned you to flee from the wrath to come?

⁸Therefore produce fruit worthy of repentance!

⁹Don’t think to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham for our father,’ for I tell you that God is able to raise up children to Abraham from these stones.

¹⁰Even now the ax lies at the root of the trees. Therefore every tree that doesn’t produce good fruit is cut down, and cast into the fire.

¹¹“I indeed baptize you in water for repentance, but he who comes after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you in the Holy Spirit.

¹²His winnowing fork is in his hand, and he will thoroughly cleanse his threshing floor. He will gather his wheat into the barn, but the chaff he will burn up with unquenchable fire.”

¹³Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to John, to be baptized by him.

¹⁴But John would have hindered him, saying, “I need to be baptized by you, and you come to me?”

¹⁵But Jesus, answering, said to him, “Allow it now, for this is the fitting way for us to fulfill all righteousness.” Then he allowed him.

¹⁶Jesus, when he was baptized, went up directly from the water: and behold, the heavens were opened to him. He saw the Spirit of God descending as a dove, and coming on him.

¹⁷Behold, a voice out of the heavens said, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.”

¹ആ കാലത്തു യോഹന്നാൻസ്നാപകൻ വന്നു, യെഹൂദ്യമരുഭൂമിയിൽ പ്രസംഗിച്ചു:

²സ്വൎഗ്ഗരാജ്യം സമീപിച്ചിരിക്കയാൽ മാനസാന്തരപ്പെടുവിൻ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

³“മരുഭൂമിയിൽ വിളിച്ചുപറയുന്നവന്റെ വാക്കാവിതു: കൎത്താവിന്റെ വഴി ഒരുക്കി അവന്റെ പാത നിരപ്പാക്കുവിൻ ” എന്നിങ്ങനെ യെശയ്യാ പ്രവാചകൻ പറഞ്ഞവൻ ഇവൻ തന്നേ.

⁴യോഹന്നാന്നു ഒട്ടക രോമംകൊണ്ടുള്ള ഉടുപ്പും അരയിൽ തോൽവാറും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; അവന്റെ ആഹാരമോ വെട്ടുക്കിളിയും കാട്ടുതേനും ആയിരുന്നു.

⁵അന്നു യെരൂശലേമ്യരും യെഹൂദ്യദേശക്കാരൊക്കയും യോൎദ്ദാന്റെ ഇരുകരെയുമുള്ള എല്ലാ നാട്ടുകാരും പുറപ്പെട്ടു അവന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ചെന്നു

⁶തങ്ങളുടെ പാപങ്ങളെ ഏറ്റുപറഞ്ഞുകൊണ്ടു യോൎദ്ദാൻ നദിയിൽ അവനാൽ സ്നാനം ഏറ്റു.

⁷തന്റെ സ്നാനത്തിന്നായി പരീശരിലും സദൂക്യരിലും പലർ വരുന്നതു കണ്ടാറെ അവൻ അവരോടു പറഞ്ഞതു: സൎപ്പസന്തതികളെ, വരുവാനുള്ള കോപത്തെ ഒഴിഞ്ഞു ഓടിപ്പോകുവാൻ നിങ്ങൾക്കു ഉപദേശിച്ചുതന്നതു ആർ?

⁸മാനസാന്തരത്തിന്നു യോഗ്യമായ ഫലം കായ്പിൻ.

⁹അബ്രാഹാം ഞങ്ങൾക്കു പിതാവായിട്ടു ഉണ്ടു എന്നു ഉള്ളംകൊണ്ടു പറവാൻ തുനിയരുതു; ഈ കല്ലുകളിൽ നിന്നു അബ്രാഹാമിന്നു മക്കളെ ഉളവാക്കുവാൻ ദൈവത്തിന്നു കഴിയും എന്നു ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളോടു പറയുന്നു.

¹⁰ഇപ്പോൾ തന്നേ വൃക്ഷങ്ങളുടെ ചുവട്ടിന്നു കോടാലി വെച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; നല്ലഫലം കായ്ക്കാത്ത വൃക്ഷം എല്ലാം വെട്ടി തീയിൽ ഇട്ടുകളയുന്നു.

¹¹ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളെ മാനസാന്തരത്തിന്നായി വെള്ളത്തിൽ സ്നാനം ഏല്പിക്കുന്നതേയുള്ളു; എന്റെ പിന്നാലെ വരുന്നവനോ എന്നെക്കാൾ ബലവാൻ ആകുന്നു; അവന്റെ ചെരിപ്പു ചുമപ്പാൻ ഞാൻ മതിയായവനല്ല; അവൻ നിങ്ങളെ പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവിലും തീയിലും സ്നാനം ഏല്പിക്കും.

¹²വീശുമുറം അവന്റെ കയ്യിൽ ഉണ്ടു; അവൻ കളത്തെ മുറ്റും വെടിപ്പാക്കി കോതമ്പു കളപ്പുരയിൽ കൂട്ടിവെക്കയും പതിർ കെടാത്ത തീയിൽ ഇട്ടു ചുട്ടുകളകയും ചെയ്യും.

¹³അനന്തരം യേശു യോഹന്നാനാൽ സ്നാനം ഏല്ക്കുവാൻ ഗലീലയിൽ നിന്നു യോൎദ്ദാൻ കരെ അവന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വന്നു.

¹⁴യോഹന്നാനോ അവനെ വിലക്കി: നിന്നാൽ സ്നാനം ഏല്ക്കുവാൻ എനിക്കു ആവശ്യം; പിന്നെ നീ എന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വരുന്നുവോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

¹⁵യേശു അവനോടു: ഇപ്പോൾ സമ്മതിക്ക; ഇങ്ങനെ സകലനീതിയും നിവൎത്തിക്കുന്നതു നമുക്കു ഉചിതം എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു; എന്നാറെ അവൻ അവനെ സമ്മതിച്ചു.

¹⁶യേശു സ്നാനം ഏറ്റ ഉടനെ വെള്ളത്തിൽനിന്നു കയറി; അപ്പോൾ സ്വൎഗ്ഗം തുറന്നു ദൈവാത്മാവു പ്രാവെന്നപോലെ ഇറങ്ങി തന്റെ മേൽ വരുന്നതു അവൻ കണ്ടു;

¹⁷ഇവൻ എന്റെ പ്രിയപുത്രൻ; ഇവനിൽ ഞാൻ പ്രസാദിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു സ്വൎഗ്ഗത്തിൽ നിന്നു ഒരു ശബ്ദവും ഉണ്ടായി.

¹The beginning of the Good News of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.

²As it is written in the prophets,

³the voice of one crying in the wilderness,

⁴John came baptizing in the wilderness and preaching the baptism of repentance for forgiveness of sins.

⁵All the country of Judea and all those of Jerusalem went out to him. They were baptized by him in the Jordan river, confessing their sins.

⁶John was clothed with camel’s hair and a leather belt around his waist. He ate locusts and wild honey.

⁷He preached, saying, “After me comes he who is mightier than I, the strap of whose sandals I am not worthy to stoop down and loosen.

⁸I baptized you in water, but he will baptize you in the Holy Spirit.”

⁹In those days, Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized by John in the Jordan.

¹⁰Immediately coming up from the water, he saw the heavens parting and the Spirit descending on him like a dove.

¹¹A voice came out of the sky, “You are my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”

¹ദൈവപുത്രനായ യേശുക്രിസ്തുവിന്റെ സുവിശേഷത്തിന്റെ ആരംഭം:

²“ഞാൻ നിനക്കു മുമ്പായി എന്റെ ദൂതനെ അയക്കുന്നു; അവൻ നിന്റെ വഴി ഒരുക്കും.

³കർത്താവിന്റെ വഴി ഒരുക്കുവിൻ അവന്റെ പാത നിരപ്പാക്കുവിൻ എന്നു മരുഭൂമിയിൽ വിളിച്ചുപറയുന്നവന്റെ വാക്കു” എന്നിങ്ങനെ യെശയ്യാപ്രവാചകന്റെ പുസ്തകത്തിൽ എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നതുപോലെ യോഹന്നാൻ വന്നു

⁴മരുഭൂമിയിൽ സ്നാനം കഴിപ്പിച്ചും പാപമോചനത്തിന്നായുള്ള മാനസാന്തര സ്നാനം പ്രസംഗിച്ചുംകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു. അവന്റെ അടുക്കൽ യെഹൂദ്യദേശം ഒക്കെയും യെരൂശലേമ്യർ എല്ലാവരും വന്നു പാപങ്ങളെ ഏറ്റു പറഞ്ഞു യോർദ്ദാൻ നദിയിൽ അവനാൽ സ്നാനം കഴിഞ്ഞു.

⁶യോഹന്നാനോ ഒട്ടക രോമംകൊണ്ടുള്ള ഉടുപ്പും അരയിൽ തോൽ വാറും ധരിച്ചും വെട്ടുക്കിളിയും കാട്ടുതേനും ഉപജീവിച്ചും പോന്നു.

⁷എന്നിലും ബലമേറിയവൻ എന്റെ പിന്നാലെ വരുന്നു; അവന്റെ ചെരിപ്പിന്റെ വാറു കുനിഞ്ഞഴിപ്പാൻ ഞാൻ യോഗ്യനല്ല.

⁸ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളെ വെള്ളത്തിൽ സ്നാനം കഴിപ്പിക്കുന്നു; അവനോ നിങ്ങളെ പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവിൽ സ്നാനം കഴിപ്പിക്കും എന്നു അവൻ പ്രസംഗിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞു.

⁹ആ കാലത്തു യേശു ഗലീലയിലെ നസറെത്തിൽ നിന്നു വന്നു യോഹന്നാനാൽ യോർദ്ദാനിൽ സ്നാനം കഴിഞ്ഞു.

¹⁰വെള്ളത്തിൽ നിന്നു കയറിയ ഉടനെ ആകാശം പിളരുന്നതും ആത്മാവു പ്രാവുപോലെ തന്റെ മേൽ വരുന്നതും കണ്ടു:

¹¹നീ എന്റെ പ്രിയപുത്രൻ ; നിന്നിൽ ഞാൻ പ്രസാദിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു സ്വർഗ്ഗത്തിൽ നിന്നു ഒരു ശബ്ദവും ഉണ്ടായി.

¹⁰The servant took ten of his master’s camels, and departed, having a variety of good things of his master’s with him. He arose, and went to Mesopotamia, to the city of Nahor.

¹¹He made the camels kneel down outside the city by the well of water at the time of evening, the time that women go out to draw water.

¹²He said, “Yahweh, the God of my master Abraham, please give me success today, and show kindness to my master Abraham.

¹³Behold, I am standing by the spring of water. The daughters of the men of the city are coming out to draw water.

¹⁴Let it happen, that the young lady to whom I will say, ‘Please let down your pitcher, that I may drink,’ then she says, ‘Drink, and I will also give your camels a drink,’—let her be the one you have appointed for your servant Isaac. By this I will know that you have shown kindness to my master.”

¹⁵Before he had finished speaking, behold, Rebekah came out, who was born to Bethuel the son of Milcah, the wife of Nahor, Abraham’s brother, with her pitcher on her shoulder.

¹⁶The young lady was very beautiful to look at, a virgin. No man had known her. She went down to the spring, filled her pitcher, and came up.

¹⁷The servant ran to meet her, and said, “Please give me a drink, a little water from your pitcher.”

¹⁸She said, “Drink, my lord.” She hurried, and let down her pitcher on her hand, and gave him a drink.

¹⁹When she had finished giving him a drink, she said, “I will also draw for your camels, until they have finished drinking.”

²⁰She hurried, and emptied her pitcher into the trough, and ran again to the well to draw, and drew for all his camels.

¹⁰അനന്തരം ആ ദാസൻ തന്റെ യജമാനന്റെ ഒട്ടകങ്ങളിൽ പത്തു ഒട്ടകങ്ങളെയും യജമാനന്നുള്ള വിവിധമായ വിശേഷവസ്തുക്കളെയും കൊണ്ടു പുറപ്പെട്ടു മെസൊപ്പൊത്താമ്യയിൽ നാഹോരിന്റെ പട്ടണത്തിൽ ചെന്നു.

¹¹വൈകുന്നേരം സ്ത്രീകൾ വെള്ളം കോരുവാൻ വരുന്ന സമയത്തു അവൻ ഒട്ടകങ്ങളെ പട്ടണത്തിന്നു പുറത്തു ഒരു കിണറ്റിന്നരികെ നിറുത്തി പറഞ്ഞതെന്തെന്നാൽ:

¹²എന്റെ യജമാനനായ അബ്രാഹാമിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവേ, എന്റെ യജമാനനായ അബ്രാഹാമിനോടു കൃപചെയ്തു ഇന്നുതന്നെ കാര്യം സാധിപ്പിച്ചുതരേണമേ.

¹³ഇതാ, ഞാൻ കിണറ്റിന്നരികെ നിലക്കുന്നു; ഈ പട്ടണക്കാരുടെ കന്യകമാർ വെള്ളം കോരുവാൻ വരുന്നു.

¹⁴നിന്റെ പാത്രം ഇറക്കി എനിക്കു കുടിപ്പാൻ തരേണം എന്നു ഞാൻ പറയുമ്പോൾ: കുടിക്ക; നിന്റെ ഒട്ടകങ്ങൾക്കും കുടിപ്പാൻ കൊടുക്കാമെന്നു പറയുന്ന സ്ത്രീ തന്നേ നീ നിന്റെ ദാസനായ യിസ്ഹാക്കിന്നു നിയമിച്ചവളായിരിക്കട്ടെ; നീ എന്റെ യജമാനനോടു കൃപ ചെയ്തു എന്നു ഞാൻ അതിനാൽ ഗ്രഹിക്കും.

¹⁵അവൻ പറഞ്ഞു തീരുംമുമ്പെ അബ്രാഹാമിന്റെ സഹോദരനായ നാഹോരിന്റെ ഭാര്യ മിൽക്കയുടെ മകൻ ബെഥൂവേലിന്റെ മകൾ റിബെക്കാ തോളിൽ പാത്രവുമായി വന്നു.

¹⁶ബാല അതിസുന്ദരിയും പുരുഷൻ തൊടാത്ത കന്യകയും ആയിരുന്നു; അവൾ കിണറ്റിൽ ഇറങ്ങി പാത്രം നിറച്ചു കയറിവന്നു.

¹⁷ദാസൻ വേഗത്തിൽ അവളെ എതിരേറ്റു ചെന്നു: നിന്റെ പാത്രത്തിലെ വെള്ളം കുറെ എനിക്കു കുടിപ്പാൻ തരേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

¹⁸യജമാനനേ, കുടിക്ക എന്നു അവൾ പറഞ്ഞു വേഗം പാത്രം കയ്യിൽ ഇറക്കി അവന്നു കുടിപ്പാൻ കൊടുത്തു.

¹⁹അവന്നു കുടിപ്പാൻ കൊടുത്ത ശേഷം: നിന്റെ ഒട്ടകങ്ങൾക്കും വേണ്ടുവോളം ഞാൻ കോരിക്കൊടുക്കാം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു,

²⁰പാത്രത്തിലെ വെള്ളം വേഗം തൊട്ടിയിൽ ഒഴിച്ചു, പിന്നെയും കോരിക്കൊണ്ടുവരുവാൻ കിണറ്റിലേക്കു ഔടി ഇറങ്ങി അവന്റെ ഒട്ടകങ്ങൾക്കും എല്ലാം കോരിക്കൊടുത്തു.

¹⁹You shall strike every fortified city and every choice city, and shall fell every good tree, and stop all springs of water, and mar every good piece of land with stones.’ ”

²⁰In the morning, about the time of offering the sacrifice, behold, water came by the way of Edom, and the country was filled with water.

²¹Now when all the Moabites heard that the kings had come up to fight against them, they gathered themselves together, all who were able to put on armor, young and old, and stood on the border.

²²They rose up early in the morning, and the sun shone on the water, and the Moabites saw the water opposite them as red as blood.

²³They said, “This is blood. The kings are surely destroyed, and they have struck each other. Now therefore, Moab, to the plunder!”

²⁴When they came to the camp of Israel, the Israelites rose up and struck the Moabites, so that they fled before them; and they went forward into the land attacking the Moabites.

²⁵They beat down the cities; and on every good piece of land each man cast his stone, and filled it. They also stopped all the springs of water and cut down all the good trees, until in Kir Hareseth all they left was its stones; however the men armed with slings went around it and attacked it.

¹⁹നിങ്ങൾ ഉറപ്പുള്ള പട്ടണങ്ങളും ശ്രേഷ്ഠനഗരങ്ങളുമെല്ലാം ജയിച്ചടക്കുകയും നല്ലവൃക്ഷങ്ങളെല്ലാം മുറിക്കയും നീരുറവുകളെല്ലാം അടെച്ചുകളകയും നല്ല നിലങ്ങളെല്ലാം കല്ലുവാരിയിട്ടു ചീത്തയാക്കുകയും ചെയ്യും.

²⁰പിറ്റെന്നാൾ രാവിലെ ഭോജനയാഗത്തിന്റെ സമയത്തു വെള്ളം എദോംവഴിയായി വരുന്നതുകണ്ടു; ദേശം വെള്ളംകൊണ്ടു നിറഞ്ഞു.

²¹എന്നാൽ ഈ രാജാക്കന്മാർ തങ്ങളോടു യുദ്ധം ചെയ്‍വാൻ പുറപ്പെട്ടുവന്നു എന്നു മോവാബ്യരൊക്കെയും കേട്ടപ്പോൾ അവർ ആയുധം ധരിപ്പാൻ തക്ക പ്രായത്തിലും മേലോട്ടുമുള്ളവരെ വിളിച്ചുകൂട്ടി അതിരിങ്കൽ ചെന്നുനിന്നു.

²²രാവിലെ അവർ എഴുന്നേറ്റപ്പോൾ സൂര്യൻ വെള്ളത്തിന്മേൽ ഉദിച്ചിട്ടു മോവാബ്യർക്കും തങ്ങളുടെ നേരെയുള്ള വെള്ളം രക്തംപോലെ ചുവപ്പായി തോന്നി:

²³അതു രക്തമാകുന്നു; ആ രാജാക്കന്മാർ തമ്മിൽ പൊരുതു അന്യോന്യം സംഹരിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു; ആകയാൽ മോവാബ്യരേ, കൊള്ളെക്കു വരുവിൻ എന്നു അവർ പറഞ്ഞു.

²⁴അവർ യിസ്രായേൽപാളയത്തിങ്കൽ എത്തിയപ്പോൾ യിസ്രായേല്യർ എഴുന്നേറ്റു മോവാബ്യരെ തോല്പിച്ചോടിച്ചു; അവർ ദേശത്തിൽ കടന്നുചെന്നു മോവാബ്യരെ പിന്നെയും തോല്പിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു.

²⁵പട്ടണങ്ങളെ അവർ ഇടിച്ചു നല്ലനിലമൊക്കെയും ഔരോരുത്തൻ ഔരോ കല്ലു ഇട്ടു നികത്തി നീരുറവുകളെല്ലാം അടെച്ചു നല്ലവൃക്ഷങ്ങളെല്ലാം മുറിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു; കീർഹരേശെത്തിൽ മാത്രം അവർ അതിന്റെ കല്ലു അങ്ങനെ തന്നേ വിട്ടേച്ചു. എന്നാൽ കവിണക്കാർ അതിനെ വളഞ്ഞു നശിപ്പിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു.

¹He brought me back to the door of the temple; and behold, waters flowed out from under the threshold of the temple eastward, for the front of the temple faced toward the east. The waters came down from underneath, from the right side of the temple, on the south of the altar.

²Then he brought me out by the way of the gate northward, and led me around by the way outside to the outer gate, by the way of the gate that looks toward the east. Behold, waters ran out on the right side.

³When the man went out eastward with the line in his hand, he measured one thousand cubits, and he caused me to pass through the waters, waters that were to the ankles.

⁴Again he measured one thousand, and caused me to pass through the waters, waters that were to the knees. Again he measured one thousand, and caused me to pass through waters that were to the waist.

⁵Afterward he measured one thousand; and it was a river that I could not pass through, for the waters had risen, waters to swim in, a river that could not be walked through.

⁶He said to me, “Son of man, have you seen this?”

⁷Now when I had returned, behold, on the bank of the river were very many trees on the one side and on the other.

⁸Then he said to me, “These waters flow out toward the eastern region and will go down into the Arabah. Then they will go toward the sea and flow into the sea which will be made to flow out; and the waters will be healed.

⁹It will happen that every living creature which swarms, in every place where the rivers come, will live. Then there will be a very great multitude of fish; for these waters have come there, and the waters of the sea will be healed, and everything will live wherever the river comes.

¹അവൻ എന്നെ ആലയത്തിന്റെ പ്രവേശനത്തിങ്കൽ മടക്കിക്കൊണ്ടുവന്നപ്പോൾ ആലയത്തിന്റെ ഉമ്മരപ്പടിയുടെ കീഴെ നിന്നു വെള്ളം കിഴക്കോട്ടു പുറപ്പെടുന്നതു ഞാൻ കണ്ടു. ആലയത്തിന്റെ മുഖം കിഴക്കോട്ടല്ലോ; ആ വെള്ളം ആലയത്തിന്റെ വലത്തു ഭാഗത്തു കീഴെനിന്നു യാഗപീഠത്തിന്നു തെക്കുവശമായി ഒഴുകി.

²അവൻ വടക്കോട്ടുള്ള ഗോപുരത്തിൽകൂടി എന്നെ പുറത്തു കൊണ്ടു ചെന്നു പുറത്തെ വഴിയായി കിഴക്കോട്ടു ദർശനമുള്ള ഗോപുരത്തിൽകൂടി പുറത്തെ ഗോപുരത്തിലേക്കു ചുറ്റിനടത്തി കൊണ്ടുപോയി; വെള്ളം വലത്തുഭാഗത്തുകൂടി ഒഴുകുന്നതു ഞാൻ കണ്ടു.

³ആ പുരുഷൻ കയ്യിൽ ചരടുമായി കിഴക്കോട്ടു നടന്നു, ആയിരം മുഴം അളന്നു, എന്നെ വെള്ളത്തിൽ കൂടി കടക്കുമാറാക്കി; വെള്ളം നരിയാണിയോളം ആയി.

⁴അവൻ പിന്നെയും ആയിരം മുഴം അളന്നു, എന്നെ വെള്ളത്തിൽകൂടി കടക്കുമാറാക്കി; വെള്ളം മുട്ടോളം ആയി; അവൻ പിന്നെയും ആയിരം മുഴം അളന്നു, എന്നെ കടക്കുമാറാക്കി; വെള്ളം അരയോളം ആയി.

⁵അവൻ പിന്നെയും ആയിരം മുഴം അളന്നു; അതു എനിക്കു കടപ്പാൻ വഹിയാത്ത ഒരു നദിയായി; വെള്ളം പൊങ്ങി, നീന്തീട്ടല്ലാതെ കടപ്പാൻ വഹിയാത്ത ഒരു നദിയായിത്തീർന്നു.

⁶അവൻ എന്നോടു: മനുഷ്യപുത്രാ, കണ്ടുവോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു; പിന്നെ അവൻ എന്നെ നദീതീരത്തു മടങ്ങിച്ചെല്ലുമാറാക്കി.

⁷ഞാൻ മടങ്ങിച്ചെന്നപ്പോൾ നദീതീരത്തു ഇക്കരെയും അക്കരെയും അനവധി വൃക്ഷം നിലക്കുന്നതു കണ്ടു.

⁸അപ്പോൾ അവൻ എന്നോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതു: ഈ വെള്ളം കിഴക്കെ ഗലീലയിലേക്കു പുറപ്പെട്ടു അരാബയിലേക്കു ഒഴുകി കടലിൽ വീഴുന്നു; കഴുകിച്ചെന്നു വെള്ളം കടലിൽ വീണിട്ടു അതിലെ വെള്ളം പത്ഥ്യമായ്തീരും.

⁹എന്നാൽ ഈ നദി ചെന്നുചേരുന്നെടത്തൊക്കെയും ചലിക്കുന്ന സകലപ്രാണികളും ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കും; ഈ വെള്ളം അവിടെ വന്നതുകൊണ്ടു ഏറ്റവും വളരെ മത്സ്യം ഉണ്ടാകും; ഈ നദി ചെന്നു ചേരുന്നേടത്തൊക്കെയും അതു പത്ഥ്യമായ്തീർന്നിട്ടു സകലവും ജീവിക്കും.

¹In that day you will say, “I will give thanks to you, Yahweh; for though you were angry with me, your anger has turned away and you comfort me.

²Behold, God is my salvation. I will trust, and will not be afraid; for Yah, Yahweh, is my strength and song; and he has become my salvation.”

³Therefore with joy you will draw water out of the wells of salvation.

⁴In that day you will say, “Give thanks to Yahweh! Call on his name! Declare his doings among the peoples! Proclaim that his name is exalted!

⁵Sing to Yahweh, for he has done excellent things! Let this be known in all the earth!

⁶Cry aloud and shout, you inhabitant of Zion, for the Holy One of Israel is great among you!”

¹അന്നാളിൽ നീ പറയുന്നതു എന്തെന്നാൽ: യഹോവേ, നീ എന്നോടു കോപിച്ചു നിന്റെ കോപം മാറി, നീ എന്നെ ആശ്വസിപ്പിച്ചിരിക്കയാൽ ഞാൻ നിനക്കു സ്തോത്രം ചെയ്യുന്നു.

²ഇതാ, ദൈവം എന്റെ രക്ഷ; യഹോവയായ യാഹ് എന്റെ ബലവും എന്റെ ഗീതവും ആയിരിക്കകൊണ്ടും അവൻ എന്റെ രക്ഷയായ്തീർന്നിരിക്കകൊണ്ടും ഞാൻ ഭയപ്പെടാതെ ആശ്രയിക്കും.

³അതുകൊണ്ടു നിങ്ങൾ സന്തോഷത്തോടെ രക്ഷയുടെ ഉറവുകളിൽനിന്നു വെള്ളം കോരും.

⁴അന്നാളിൽ നിങ്ങൾ പറയുന്നതു: യഹോവേക്കു സ്തോത്രം ചെയ്‍വിൻ ; അവന്റെ നാമത്തെ വിളിച്ചപേക്ഷിപ്പിൻ ; ജാതികളുടെ ഇടയിൽ അവന്റെ പ്രവൃത്തികളെ അറിയിപ്പിൻ ; അവന്റെ നാമം ഉന്നതമായിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പ്രസ്താവിപ്പിൻ .

⁵യഹോവേക്കു കീർത്തനം ചെയ്‍വിൻ ; അവൻ ശ്രേഷ്ഠമായതു ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു; ഇതു ഭൂമിയിൽ എല്ലാടവും പ്രസിദ്ധമായ്‍വരട്ടെ.

⁶സീയോൻ നിവാസികളേ, യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ പരിശുദ്ധൻ നിങ്ങളുടെ മദ്ധ്യേ വലിയവനായിരിക്കയാൽ ഘോഷിച്ചുല്ലസിപ്പിൻ .

¹While Apollos was at Corinth, Paul, having passed through the upper country, came to Ephesus and found certain disciples.

²He said to them, “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?”

³He said, “Into what then were you baptized?”

⁴Paul said, “John indeed baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying to the people that they should believe in the one who would come after him, that is, in Christ Jesus.”

⁵When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.

⁶When Paul had laid his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them and they spoke with other languages and prophesied.

⁷They were about twelve men in all.

¹അപ്പൊല്ലോസ് കൊരിന്തിൽ ഇരിക്കുമ്പോൾ പൗലോസ് ഉൾപ്രദേശങ്ങളിൽ കൂടി സഞ്ചരിച്ചു എഫെസോസിൽ എത്തി ചില ശിഷ്യന്മാരെ കണ്ടു:

²നിങ്ങൾ വിശ്വസിച്ചിട്ടു പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവിനെ പ്രാപിച്ചുവോ എന്നു അവരോടു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു: പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവു ഉണ്ടന്നെുപോലും ഞങ്ങൾ കേട്ടിട്ടില്ല എന്നു അവർ പറഞ്ഞു.

³എന്നാൽ ഏതായിരുന്നു നിങ്ങളുടെ സ്നാനം എന്നു അവൻ അവരോടു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു: യോഹന്നാന്റെ സ്നാനം എന്നു അവർ പറഞ്ഞു.

¹¹For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all men,

¹²instructing us to the intent that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we would live soberly, righteously, and godly in this present age;

¹³looking for the blessed hope and appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ,

¹⁴who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity and purify for himself a people for his own possession, zealous for good works.

¹⁵Say these things and exhort and reprove with all authority. Let no one despise you.

¹Remind them to be in subjection to rulers and to authorities, to be obedient, to be ready for every good work,

²to speak evil of no one, not to be contentious, to be gentle, showing all humility toward all men.

³For we were also once foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.

⁴But when the kindness of God our Savior and his love toward mankind appeared,

⁵not by works of righteousness which we did ourselves, but according to his mercy, he saved us through the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit,

⁶whom he poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior;

⁷that being justified by his grace, we might be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

⁸This saying is faithful, and concerning these things I desire that you insist confidently, so that those who have believed God may be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable to men;

⁹but shun foolish questionings, genealogies, strife, and disputes about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain.

¹¹സകലമനുഷ്യർക്കും രക്ഷാകരമായ ദൈവകൃപ ഉദിച്ചുവല്ലോ;

¹²നാം ഭാഗ്യകരമായ പ്രത്യാശെക്കായിട്ടും മഹാദൈവവും നമ്മുടെ രക്ഷിതാവുമായ യേശുക്രിസ്തുവിന്റെ തേജസ്സിന്റെ പ്രത്യക്ഷതെക്കായിട്ടും

¹³കാത്തുകൊണ്ടു ഭക്തിയോടും പ്രപഞ്ചമോഹങ്ങളും വർജ്ജിച്ചിട്ടു ഈ ലോകത്തിൽ സുബോധത്തോടും നീതിയോടും ദൈവഭക്തിയോടുംകൂടെ ജീവിച്ചുപോരേണ്ടതിന്നു അതു നമ്മെ ശിക്ഷിച്ചുവളർത്തുന്നു.

¹⁴അവൻ നമ്മെ സകല അധർമ്മത്തിൽനിന്നും വീണ്ടെടുത്തു സൽപ്രവൃത്തികളിൽ ശുഷ്കാന്തിയുള്ളോരു സ്വന്തജനമായി തനിക്കു ശുദ്ധീകരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു തന്നെത്താൻ നമുക്കുവേണ്ടി കൊടുത്തു.

¹⁵ഇതു പൂർണ്ണഗൌരവത്തോടെ പ്രസംഗിക്കയും പ്രബോധിപ്പിക്കയും ശാസിക്കയും ചെയ്ക. ആരും നിന്നെ തുച്ഛീകരിക്കരുതു.

¹വാഴ്ചകൾക്കും അധികാരങ്ങൾക്കും കീഴടങ്ങി അനുസരിപ്പാനും സകലസൽപ്രവൃത്തിക്കും ഒരുങ്ങിയിരിപ്പാനും

²ആരെക്കൊണ്ടും ദൂഷണം പറയാതെയും കലഹിക്കാതെയും ശാന്തന്മാരായി സകലമനുഷ്യരോടും പൂർണ്ണസൌമ്യത കാണിപ്പാനും അവരെ ഔർമ്മപ്പെടുത്തുക.

³മുമ്പെ നാമും ബുദ്ധികെട്ടവരും അനുസരണമില്ലാത്തവരും വഴിതെറ്റി നടക്കുന്നവരും നാനാമോഹങ്ങൾക്കും ഭോഗങ്ങൾക്കും അധീനരും ഈർഷ്യയിലും അസൂയയിലും കാലം കഴിക്കുന്നവരും ദ്വേഷിതരും അന്യോന്യം പകെക്കുന്നവരും ആയിരുന്നുവല്ലോ.

⁴എന്നാൽ നമ്മുടെ രക്ഷിതാവായ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ദയയും മനുഷ്യപ്രീതിയും ഉദിച്ചപ്പോൾ

⁵അവൻ നമ്മെ നാം ചെയ്ത നീതിപ്രവൃത്തികളാലല്ല, തന്റെ കരുണപ്രകാരമത്രേ രക്ഷിച്ചതു.

⁶നാം അവന്റെ കൃപയാൽ നീതീകരിക്കപ്പെട്ടിട്ടു പ്രത്യാശപ്രകാരം നിത്യജീവന്റെ അവകാശികളായിത്തീരേണ്ടതിന്നു പുനർജ്ജനനസ്നാനം കൊണ്ടും

⁷നമ്മുടെ രക്ഷിതാവായ യേശു ക്രിസ്തുമൂലം നമ്മുടെമേൽ ധാരാളമായി പകർന്ന പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവിന്റെ നവീകരണംകൊണ്ടും തന്നേ.

⁸ഈ വചനം വിശ്വാസയോഗ്യം; ദൈവത്തിൽ വിശ്വസിച്ചവർ സൽപ്രവൃത്തികളിൽ ഉത്സാഹികളായിരിപ്പാൻ കരുതേണ്ടതിന്നു നീ ഇതു ഉറപ്പിച്ചു പറയേണം എന്നു ഞാൻ ഇച്ഛിക്കുന്നു. ഇതു ശുഭവും മനുഷ്യർക്കും ഉപകാരവും ആകുന്നു.

⁹മൌഢ്യതർക്കവും വംശാവലികളും കലഹവും ന്യായപ്രമാണത്തെക്കുറിച്ചുള്ള വാദവും ഒഴിഞ്ഞുനിൽക്ക. ഇവ നിഷ്പ്രയോജനവും വ്യർത്ഥവുമല്ലോ.

¹⁵As the people were in expectation, and all men reasoned in their hearts concerning John, whether perhaps he was the Christ,

¹⁶John answered them all, “I indeed baptize you with water, but he comes who is mightier than I, the strap of whose sandals I am not worthy to loosen. He will baptize you in the Holy Spirit and fire.

¹⁷His winnowing fan is in his hand, and he will thoroughly cleanse his threshing floor, and will gather the wheat into his barn; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.”

¹⁸Then with many other exhortations he preached good news to the people,

¹⁹but Herod the tetrarch, being reproved by him for Herodias, his brother’s wife, and for all the evil things which Herod had done,

²⁰added this also to them all, that he shut up John in prison.

²¹Now when all the people were baptized, Jesus also had been baptized and was praying. The sky was opened,

²²and the Holy Spirit descended in a bodily form like a dove on him; and a voice came out of the sky, saying “You are my beloved Son. In you I am well pleased.”

¹⁵ജനം കാത്തു നിന്നു; അവൻ ക്രിസ്തുവോ എന്നു എല്ലാവരുംഹൃദയത്തിൽ യോഹന്നാനെക്കുറിച്ചു വിചാരിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുമ്പോൾ

¹⁶യോഹന്നാൻ എല്ലാവരോടും ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞതു: ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളെ വെള്ളംകൊണ്ടു സ്നാനം കഴിപ്പിക്കുന്നു; എന്നാൽ എന്നിലും ബലവാനായവൻ വരുന്നു; അവന്റെ ചെരിപ്പിന്റെ വാറു അഴിപ്പാൻ ഞാൻ യോഗ്യനല്ല; അവൻ നിങ്ങളെ പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവുകൊണ്ടും തീകൊണ്ടും സ്നാനം കഴിപ്പിക്കും.

¹⁸മറ്റു പലതും അവൻ പ്രബോധിപ്പിച്ചു കൊണ്ടു ജനത്തോടു സുവിശേഷം അറിയിച്ചു.

¹⁹എന്നാൽ ഇടപ്രഭുവായ ഹെരോദാവു സഹോദരന്റെ ഭാര്യ ഹെരോദ്യനിമിത്തവും ഹെരോദാവു ചെയ്ത സകലദോഷങ്ങൾ നിമിത്തവും യോഹന്നാൻ അവനെ ആക്ഷേപിക്കയാൽ

²⁰അതെല്ലാം ചെയ്തതു കൂടാതെ അവനെ തടവിൽ ആക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു.

²¹ജനം എല്ലാം സ്നാനം ഏലക്കുകയിൽ യേശുവും സ്നാനം ഏറ്റു പ്രാർത്ഥിക്കുമ്പോൾ സ്വർഗ്ഗം തുറന്നു,

²²പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവു ദേഹരൂപത്തിൽ പ്രാവു എന്നപോലെ അവന്റെമേൽ ഇറങ്ങിവന്നു. നീ എന്റെ പ്രിയ പുത്രൻ ; നിന്നിൽ ഞാൻ പ്രസാദിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു സ്വർഗ്ഗത്തിൽ നിന്നു ഒരു ശബ്ദവും ഉണ്ടായി.

³⁵Philip opened his mouth, and beginning from this Scripture, preached to him about Jesus.

³⁶As they went on the way, they came to some water; and the eunuch said, “Behold, here is water. What is keeping me from being baptized?”

³⁸He commanded the chariot to stand still, and they both went down into the water, both Philip and the eunuch, and he baptized him.

³⁹When they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught Philip away, and the eunuch didn’t see him any more, for he went on his way rejoicing.

⁴⁰But Philip was found at Azotus. Passing through, he preached the Good News to all the cities until he came to Caesarea.

³⁵ഫിലിപ്പൊസ് ഈ തിരുവെഴുത്തു ആധാരമാക്കി അവനോടു യേശുവിനെക്കുറിച്ചുള്ള സുവിശേഷം അറിയിപ്പാൻ തുടങ്ങി.

³⁷(അതിന്നു ഫിലിപ്പൊസ്: നീ പൂർണ്ണ ഹൃദയത്തോടെ വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നു എങ്കിൽ ആകാം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. യേശു ക്രിസ്തു ദൈവപുത്രൻ എന്നു ഞാൻ വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നു എന്നു അവൻ ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു)

³⁸അങ്ങനെ അവൻ തേർ നിർത്തുവാൻ കല്പിച്ചു; ഫിലിപ്പൊസും ഷണ്ഡനും ഇരുവരും വെള്ളത്തിൽ ഇറങ്ങി, അവൻ അവനെ സ്നാനം കഴിപ്പിച്ചു;

⁴⁰ഫിലിപ്പൊസിനെ പിന്നെ അസ്തോദിൽ കണ്ടു; അവൻ സഞ്ചരിച്ചു എല്ലാ പട്ടണങ്ങളിലും സുവിശേഷം അറിയിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു കൈസര്യയിൽ എത്തി.

¹⁵The Holy Spirit also testifies to us, for after saying,

¹⁶“This is the covenant that I will make with them

¹⁷“I will remember their sins and their iniquities no more.”

¹⁸Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin.

¹⁹Having therefore, brothers, boldness to enter into the holy place by the blood of Jesus,

²⁰by the way which he dedicated for us, a new and living way, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh,

²¹and having a great priest over God’s house,

²²let’s draw near with a true heart in fullness of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and having our body washed with pure water,

²³let’s hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering; for he who promised is faithful.

²⁴Let’s consider how to provoke one another to love and good works,

²⁵not forsaking our own assembling together, as the custom of some is, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.

¹⁵അതു പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവും നമുക്കു സാക്ഷീകരിക്കുന്നു.

¹⁶“ഈ കാലം കഴിഞ്ഞശേഷം ഞാൻ അവരോടു ചെയ്‍വാനിരിക്കുന്ന നിയമം ഇങ്ങനെയാകുന്നു: എന്റെ ന്യായപ്രമാണം അവരുടെ ഉള്ളിലാക്കി അവരുടെ ഹൃദയങ്ങളിൽ എഴുതും എന്നു കർത്താവിന്റെ അരുളപ്പാടു” എന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തശേഷം:

¹⁷“അവരുടെ പാപങ്ങളെയും അകൃത്യങ്ങളെയും ഞാൻ ഇനി ഔർക്കയുമില്ല” എന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു.

¹⁸എന്നാൽ ഇവയുടെ മോചനം ഉള്ളേടത്തു ഇനിമേൽ പാപങ്ങൾക്കു വേണ്ടി ഒരു യാഗവും ആവശ്യമില്ല.

¹⁹അതുകൊണ്ടു സഹോദരന്മാരേ, യേശു തന്റെ ദേഹം എന്ന തിരശ്ശീലയിൽകൂടി നമുക്കു പ്രതിഷ്ഠിച്ച ജീവനുള്ള പുതുവഴിയായി,

²⁰തന്റെ രക്തത്താൽ വിശുദ്ധമന്ദിരത്തിലേക്കുള്ള പ്രവേശനത്തിന്നു

²¹ധൈർയ്യവും ദൈവാലയത്തിന്മേൽ ഒരു മഹാപുരോഹിതനും നമുക്കുള്ളതുകൊണ്ടു

²²നാം ദുർമ്മനസ്സാക്ഷി നീങ്ങുമാറു ഹൃദയങ്ങളിൽ തളിക്കപ്പെട്ടവരും ശുദ്ധവെള്ളത്താൽ ശരീരം കഴുകപ്പെട്ടവരുമായി വിശ്വാസത്തിന്റെ പൂർണ്ണനിശ്ചയം പൂണ്ടു പരമാർത്ഥഹൃദയത്തോടെ അടുത്തു ചെല്ലുക.

²³പ്രത്യാശയുടെ സ്വീകാരം നാം മുറുകെ പിടിച്ചുകൊൾക; വാഗ്ദത്തം ചെയ്തവൻ വിശ്വസ്തനല്ലോ.

²⁴ചിലർ ചെയ്യുന്നതുപോലെ നമ്മുടെ സഭായോഗങ്ങളെ ഉപേക്ഷിക്കാതെ തമ്മിൽ പ്രബോധിപ്പിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു സ്നേഹത്തിന്നും സൽപ്രവൃത്തികൾക്കും ഉത്സാഹം വർദ്ധിപ്പിപ്പാൻ അന്യോന്യം സൂക്ഷിച്ചുകൊൾക. നാൾ സമീപിക്കുന്നു എന്നു കാണുംതോറും അതു അധികമധികമായി ചെയ്യേണ്ടതാകുന്നു.

¹Therefore when the Lord knew that the Pharisees had heard that Jesus was making and baptizing more disciples than John

²(although Jesus himself didn’t baptize, but his disciples),

³he left Judea and departed into Galilee.

⁴He needed to pass through Samaria.

⁵So he came to a city of Samaria called Sychar, near the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph.

⁶Jacob’s well was there. Jesus therefore, being tired from his journey, sat down by the well. It was about the sixth hour.

⁷A woman of Samaria came to draw water. Jesus said to her, “Give me a drink.”

⁸For his disciples had gone away into the city to buy food.

⁹The Samaritan woman therefore said to him, “How is it that you, being a Jew, ask for a drink from me, a Samaritan woman?” (For Jews have no dealings with Samaritans.)

¹⁰Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give me a drink,’ you would have asked him, and he would have given you living water.”

¹¹The woman said to him, “Sir, you have nothing to draw with, and the well is deep. So where do you get that living water?

¹²Are you greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well and drank from it himself, as did his children and his livestock?”

¹³Jesus answered her, “Everyone who drinks of this water will thirst again,

¹⁴but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never thirst again; but the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life.”

¹⁵The woman said to him, “Sir, give me this water, so that I don’t get thirsty, neither come all the way here to draw.”

¹⁶Jesus said to her, “Go, call your husband, and come here.”

¹⁷The woman answered, “I have no husband.”

¹⁸for you have had five husbands; and he whom you now have is not your husband. This you have said truly.”

¹⁹The woman said to him, “Sir, I perceive that you are a prophet.

²⁰Our fathers worshiped in this mountain, and you Jews say that in Jerusalem is the place where people ought to worship.”

²¹Jesus said to her, “Woman, believe me, the hour is coming when neither in this mountain nor in Jerusalem will you worship the Father.

²²You worship that which you don’t know. We worship that which we know; for salvation is from the Jews.

²³But the hour comes, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father seeks such to be his worshipers.

²⁴God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.”

²⁵The woman said to him, “I know that Messiah is coming, he who is called Christ. When he has come, he will declare to us all things.”

²⁶Jesus said to her, “I am he, the one who speaks to you.”

²⁷Just then, his disciples came. They marveled that he was speaking with a woman; yet no one said, “What are you looking for?” or, “Why do you speak with her?”

²⁸So the woman left her water pot, went away into the city, and said to the people,

²⁹“Come, see a man who told me everything that I have done. Can this be the Christ?”

³⁰They went out of the city, and were coming to him.

³¹In the meanwhile, the disciples urged him, saying, “Rabbi, eat.”

³²But he said to them, “I have food to eat that you don’t know about.”

³³The disciples therefore said to one another, “Has anyone brought him something to eat?”

³⁴Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of him who sent me and to accomplish his work.

³⁵Don’t you say, ‘There are yet four months until the harvest’? Behold, I tell you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, that they are white for harvest already.

³⁶He who reaps receives wages and gathers fruit to eternal life, that both he who sows and he who reaps may rejoice together.

³⁷For in this the saying is true, ‘One sows, and another reaps.’

³⁸I sent you to reap that for which you haven’t labored. Others have labored, and you have entered into their labor.”

³⁹From that city many of the Samaritans believed in him because of the word of the woman, who testified, “He told me everything that I have done.”

⁴⁰So when the Samaritans came to him, they begged him to stay with them. He stayed there two days.

⁴¹Many more believed because of his word.

⁴²They said to the woman, “Now we believe, not because of your speaking; for we have heard for ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Savior of the world.”

¹യേശു യോഹന്നാനെക്കാൾ അധികം ശിഷ്യന്മാരെ ചേർത്തു സ്നാനം കഴിപ്പിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പരീശന്മാർ കേട്ടു എന്നു കർത്താവു അറിഞ്ഞപ്പോൾ —

²ശിഷ്യന്മാർ അല്ലാതെ, യേശു തന്നേ സ്നാനം കഴിപ്പിച്ചില്ലതാനും —

³അവൻ യെഹൂദ്യദേശം വിട്ടു പിന്നെയും ഗലീലെക്കു യാത്രയായി. അവൻ ശമര്യയിൽകൂടി കടന്നുപോകേണ്ടിവന്നു.

⁵അങ്ങനെ അവൻ സുഖാർ എന്നൊരു ശമര്യപട്ടണത്തിൽ യാക്കോബ് തന്റെ പുത്രനായയോസേഫിന്നു കൊടുത്ത നിലത്തിന്നരികെ എത്തി. അവിടെ യാക്കോബിന്റെ ഉറവുണ്ടായിരുന്നു. യേശു വഴി നടന്നു ക്ഷീണിച്ചിട്ടു ഉറവിന്നരികെ ഇരുന്നു; അപ്പോൾ ഏകദേശം ആറാം മണിനേരം ആയിരുന്നു.

⁷ഒരു ശമര്യസ്ത്രീ വെള്ളം കോരുവാൻ വന്നു; യേശു അവളോടു: എനിക്കു കുടിപ്പാൻ തരുമോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

⁸അവന്റെ ശിഷ്യന്മാർ ഭക്ഷണസാധനങ്ങളെ കൊള്ളുവാൻ പട്ടണത്തിൽ പോയിരുന്നു.

⁹ശമര്യസ്ത്രീ അവനോടു: നീ യെഹൂദൻ ആയിരിക്കെ ശമര്യക്കാരത്തിയായ എന്നോടു കുടിപ്പാൻ ചോദിക്കുന്നതു എങ്ങനെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. യെഹൂദന്മാർക്കും ശമര്യർക്കും തമ്മിൽ സമ്പർക്കമില്ല —

¹⁰അതിന്നു യേശു: നീ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ദാനവും നിന്നോടു കുടിപ്പാൻ ചോദിക്കുന്നവൻ ആരെന്നും അറിഞ്ഞു എങ്കിൽ നീ അവനോടു ചോദിക്കയും അവൻ ജീവനുള്ള വെള്ളം നിനക്കു തരികയും ചെയ്യുമായിരുന്നു എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

¹¹സ്ത്രീ അവനോടു: യജമാനനേ, നിനക്കു കോരുവാൻ പാത്രം ഇല്ലല്ലോ; കിണറു ആഴമുള്ളതാകുന്നു; പിന്നെ ജീവനുള്ള വെള്ളം നിനക്കു എവിടെ നിന്നു?

¹²നമ്മുടെ പിതാവായ യാക്കോബിനെക്കാൾ നീ വലിയവനോ? അവൻ ആകുന്നു ഈ കിണറു ഞങ്ങൾക്കു തന്നതു; അവനും അവന്റെ മക്കളും മൃഗങ്ങളും ഇതിലെ വെള്ളം കുടിച്ചു പോന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

¹³യേശു അവളോടു: ഈ വെള്ളം കുടിക്കുന്നവന്നു എല്ലാം പിന്നെയും ദാഹിക്കും.

¹⁴ഞാൻ കൊടുക്കുന്ന വെള്ളം കുടിക്കുന്നവന്നോ ഒരുനാളും ദാഹിക്കയില്ല; ഞാൻ കൊടുക്കുന്ന വെള്ളം അവനിൽ നിത്യജീവങ്കലേക്കു പൊങ്ങിവരുന്ന നീരുറവായിത്തീരും എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

¹⁵സ്ത്രീ അവനാടു: യജമാനനേ, എനിക്കു ദാഹിക്കാതെയും ഞാൻ കോരുവാൻ ഇവിടത്തോളം വരാതെയുമിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ആ വെള്ളം എനിക്കു തരേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

¹⁶യേശു അവളോടു: പോയി ഭർത്താവിനെ വിളിച്ചുകൊണ്ടുവരിക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

¹⁷എനിക്കു ഭർത്താവു ഇല്ല എന്നുസ്ത്രീ അവനോടു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞതിന്നു: എനിക്കു ഭർത്താവു ഇല്ല എന്നു നീ പറഞ്ഞതു ശരി.

¹⁸അഞ്ചു ഭർത്താക്കന്മാർ നിനക്കു ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; ഇപ്പോൾ ഉള്ളവനോ ഭർത്താവല്ല; നീ പറഞ്ഞതു സത്യം തന്നേ എന്നു യേശു പറഞ്ഞു.

¹⁹സ്ത്രീ അവനോടു: യജമാനനേ, നീ പ്രവാചകൻ എന്നു ഞാൻ കാണുന്നു.

²⁰ഞങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാർ ഈ മലയിൽ നമസ്കരിച്ചുവന്നു; നമസ്കരിക്കേണ്ടുന്ന സ്ഥലം യെരൂശലേമിൽ ആകുന്നു എന്നു നിങ്ങൾ പറയുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

²¹യേശു അവളോടു പറഞ്ഞതു: സ്ത്രീയേ, എന്റെ വാക്കു വിശ്വസിക്ക; നിങ്ങൾ പിതാവിനെ നമസ്കരിക്കുന്നതു ഈ മലയിലും അല്ല യെരൂശലേമിലും അല്ല എന്നുള്ള നാഴിക വരുന്നു.

²²നിങ്ങൾ അറിയാത്തതിനെ നമസ്കരിക്കുന്നു. ഞങ്ങളോ അറിയുന്നതിനെ നമസ്കരിക്കുന്നു; രക്ഷ യെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ ഇടയിൽ നിന്നല്ലോ വരുന്നതു.

²³സത്യനമസ്കാരികൾ പിതാവിനെ ആത്മാവിലും സത്യത്തിലും നമസ്കരിക്കുന്ന നാഴിക വരുന്നു; ഇപ്പോൾ വന്നുമിരിക്കുന്നു. തന്നേ നമസ്കരിക്കുന്നവർ ഇങ്ങനെയുള്ളവർ ആയിരിക്കേണം എന്നു പിതാവു ഇച്ഛിക്കുന്നു.

²⁴ദൈവം ആത്മാവു ആകുന്നു; അവനെ നമസ്കരിക്കുന്നവർ ആത്മാവിലും സത്യത്തിലും നമസ്കരിക്കേണം.

²⁵സ്ത്രീ അവനോടു: മശീഹ — എന്നുവെച്ചാൽ ക്രിസ്തു — വരുന്നു എന്നു ഞാൻ അറിയുന്നു; അവൻ വരുമ്പോൾ സകലവും അറിയിച്ചുതരും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

²⁶യേശു അവളോടു: നിന്നോടു സംസാരിക്കുന്ന ഞാൻ തന്നേ മശീഹ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

²⁷ഇതിന്നിടയിൽ അവന്റെ ശിഷ്യന്മാർ വന്നു അവൻ സ്ത്രീയോടു സംസാരിക്കയാൽ ആശ്ചര്യപ്പെട്ടു എങ്കിലും: നീ എന്തു ചോദിക്കുന്നു? അവളോടു എന്തു സംസാരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു ആരും ചോദിച്ചില്ല.

²⁸അനന്തരം സ്ത്രീ പാത്രം വെച്ചിട്ടു പട്ടണത്തിൽ ചെന്നു ജനങ്ങളോടു:

²⁹ഞാൻ ചെയ്തതു ഒക്കെയും എന്നോടു പറഞ്ഞ ഒരു മനുഷ്യനെ വന്നുകാണ്മിൻ ; അവൻ പക്ഷേ ക്രിസ്തു ആയിരിക്കുമോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

³⁰അവർ പട്ടണത്തിൽ നിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടു അവന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വന്നു.

³¹അതിന്നിടയിൽ ശിഷ്യന്മാർ അവനോടു: റബ്ബീ, ഭക്ഷിച്ചാലും എന്നു അപേക്ഷിച്ചു.

³²അതിന്നു അവൻ : നിങ്ങൾ അറിയാത്ത ആഹാരം ഭക്ഷിപ്പാൻ എനിക്കു ഉണ്ടു എന്നു അവരോടു പറഞ്ഞു.

³³ആകയാൽ വല്ലവനും അവന്നു ഭക്ഷിപ്പാൻ കൊണ്ടുവന്നുവോ എന്നു ശിഷ്യന്മാർ തമ്മിൽ പറഞ്ഞു.

³⁴യേശു അവരോടു പറഞ്ഞതു: എന്നെ അയച്ചവന്റെ ഇഷ്ടം ചെയ്തു അവന്റെ പ്രവൃത്തി തികെക്കുന്നതു തന്നെ എന്റെ ആഹാരം.

³⁵ഇനി നാലു മാസം കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടു കൊയ്ത്തു വരുന്നു എന്നു നിങ്ങൾ പറയുന്നില്ലയോ? നിങ്ങൾ തല പൊക്കി നോക്കിയാൽ നിലങ്ങൾ ഇപ്പോൾ തന്നേ കൊയ്ത്തിന്നു വെളുത്തിരിക്കുന്നതു കാണും എന്നു ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളോടു പറയുന്നു.

³⁶വിതെക്കുന്നവനും കൊയ്യുന്നവനം ഒരുമിച്ചു സന്തോഷിപ്പാൻ തക്കവണ്ണം കൊയ്യുന്നവൻ കൂലി വാങ്ങി നിത്യജീവങ്കലേക്കു വിളവു കൂട്ടിവെക്കുന്നു.

³⁷വിതെക്കുന്നതു ഒരുത്തൻ , കൊയ്യുന്നതു മറ്റൊരുത്തൻ എന്നുള്ള പഴഞ്ചൊൽ ഇതിൽ ഒത്തിരിക്കുന്നു.

³⁸നിങ്ങൾ അദ്ധ്വാനിച്ചിട്ടില്ലാത്തതു കൊയ്‍വാൻ ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളെ അയച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; മറ്റുള്ളവർ അദ്ധ്വാനിച്ചു; അവരുടെ അദ്ധ്വാനഫലത്തിലേക്കു നിങ്ങൾ പ്രവേശിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

³⁹ഞാൻ ചെയ്തതു ഒക്കെയും അവൻ എന്നോടു പറഞ്ഞു എന്നു സ്ത്രീ സാക്ഷ്യം പറഞ്ഞ വാക്കു നിമിത്തം ആ പട്ടണത്തിലെ പല ശമര്യരും അവനിൽ വിശ്വസിച്ചു.

⁴⁰അങ്ങനെ ശമര്യർ അവന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വന്നു തങ്ങളോടു കൂടെ പാർക്കേണം എന്നു അവനോടു അപേക്ഷിച്ചു; അവൻ രണ്ടുനാൾ അവിടെ പാർത്തു.

⁴¹ഏറ്റവും അധികംപേർ അവന്റെ വചനം കേട്ടു വിശ്വസിച്ചു:

⁴²ഇനി നിന്റെ വാക്കുകൊണ്ടല്ല ഞങ്ങൾ വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നതു; ഞങ്ങൾ തന്നേ കേൾക്കയും അവൻ സാക്ഷാൽ ലോകരക്ഷിതാവു എന്നു അറികയും ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു സ്ത്രീയോടു പറഞ്ഞു.
