²²Immediately Jesus made the disciples get into the boat and go ahead of him to the other side, while he sent the multitudes away.

²³After he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into the mountain by himself to pray. When evening had come, he was there alone.

²⁴But the boat was now in the middle of the sea, distressed by the waves, for the wind was contrary.

²⁵In the fourth watch of the night, Jesus came to them, walking on the sea.

²⁶When the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, “It’s a ghost!” and they cried out for fear.

²⁷But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, “Cheer up! It is I! Don’t be afraid.”

²⁸Peter answered him and said, “Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the waters.”

²⁹He said, “Come!”

³⁰But when he saw that the wind was strong, he was afraid, and beginning to sink, he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!”

³¹Immediately Jesus stretched out his hand, took hold of him, and said to him, “You of little faith, why did you doubt?”

³²When they got up into the boat, the wind ceased.

³³Those who were in the boat came and worshiped him, saying, “You are truly the Son of God!”

²²ഉടനെ യേശു താൻ പുരുഷാരത്തെ പറഞ്ഞയക്കുന്നതിന്നിടയിൽ ശിഷ്യന്മാർ പടകിൽ കയറി, തനിക്കുമുമ്പായി അക്കരെക്കു പേകുവാൻ അവരെ നിർബന്ധിച്ചു.

²³അവൻ പുരുഷാരത്തെ പറഞ്ഞയച്ചിട്ടു പ്രാർത്ഥിപ്പാൻ തനിയെ മലയിൽ കയറിപ്പോയി; വൈകുന്നേരം ആയപ്പോൾ ഏകനായി അവിടെ ഇരുന്നു.

²⁴പടകോ കരവിട്ടു പലനാഴിക ദൂരത്തായി, കാറ്റു പ്രതിക്കുലമാകകൊണ്ടു തിരകളാൽ വലഞ്ഞിരുന്നു.

²⁵രാത്രിയിലെ നാലാം യാമത്തിൽ അവൻ കടലിന്മേൽ നടന്നു അവരുടെ അടുക്കൽ വന്നു.

²⁶അവൻ കടലിന്മേൽ നടക്കുന്നതു കണ്ടിട്ടു ശിഷ്യന്മാർ ഭ്രമിച്ചു: അതു ഒരു ഭൂതം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു പേടിച്ചു നിലവിളിച്ചു.

²⁷ഉടനെ യേശു അവരോടു: “ധൈര്യപ്പെടുവിൻ ; ഞാൻ ആകുന്നു; പേടിക്കേണ്ടാ” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

²⁸അതിന്നു പത്രൊസ്: കർത്താവേ, നീ ആകുന്നു എങ്കിൽ ഞാൻ വെള്ളത്തിന്മേൽ നിന്റെ അടുക്കെ വരേണ്ടതിന്നു കല്പിക്കേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

³⁰എന്നാൽ അവൻ കാറ്റു കണ്ടു പേടിച്ചു മുങ്ങിത്തുടങ്ങുകയാൽ: കർത്താവേ, എന്നെ രക്ഷിക്കേണമേ എന്നു നിലവിളിച്ചു.

³¹യേശു ഉടനെ കൈ നീട്ടി അവനെ പിടിച്ചു: “അല്പവിശ്വാസിയേ, നീ എന്തിന്നു സംശയിച്ചു” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

³²അവർ പടകിൽ കയറിയപ്പോൾ കാറ്റു അമർന്നു.

¹⁶When evening came, his disciples went down to the sea.

¹⁷They entered into the boat, and were going over the sea to Capernaum. It was now dark, and Jesus had not come to them.

¹⁸The sea was tossed by a great wind blowing.

¹⁹When therefore they had rowed about twenty-five or thirty stadia, they saw Jesus walking on the sea and drawing near to the boat; and they were afraid.

²⁰But he said to them, “It is I. Don’t be afraid.”

²¹They were willing therefore to receive him into the boat. Immediately the boat was at the land where they were going.

²²On the next day, the multitude that stood on the other side of the sea saw that there was no other boat there, except the one in which his disciples had embarked, and that Jesus hadn’t entered with his disciples into the boat, but his disciples had gone away alone.

²³However, boats from Tiberias came near to the place where they ate the bread after the Lord had given thanks.

²⁴When the multitude therefore saw that Jesus wasn’t there, nor his disciples, they themselves got into the boats and came to Capernaum, seeking Jesus.

²⁵When they found him on the other side of the sea, they asked him, “Rabbi, when did you come here?”

²⁶Jesus answered them, “Most certainly I tell you, you seek me, not because you saw signs, but because you ate of the loaves and were filled.

²⁷Don’t work for the food which perishes, but for the food which remains to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give to you. For God the Father has sealed him.”

²⁸They said therefore to him, “What must we do, that we may work the works of God?”

²⁹Jesus answered them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in him whom he has sent.”

¹⁶സന്ധ്യയായപ്പോൾ ശിഷ്യന്മാർ കടല്പുറത്തേക്കു ഇറങ്ങി

¹⁷പടകുകയറി കടലക്കരെ കഫർന്നഹൂമിലേക്കു യാത്രയായി; ഇരുട്ടായശേഷവും യേശു അവരുടെ അടുക്കൽ വന്നിരുന്നില്ല.

¹⁸കൊടുങ്കാറ്റു അടിക്കയാൽ കടൽ കോപിച്ചു.

¹⁹അവർ നാലു അഞ്ചു നാഴിക ദൂരത്തോളം വലിച്ചശേഷം യേശു കടലിന്മേൽ നടന്നു പടകിനോടു സമീപിക്കുന്നതു കണ്ടു പേടിച്ചു.

²⁰അവൻ അവരോടു: ഞാൻ ആകുന്നു; പേടിക്കേണ്ടാ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

²¹അവർ അവനെ പടകിൽ കയറ്റുവാൻ ഇച്ഛിച്ചു; ഉടനെ പടകു അവർ പോകുന്ന ദേശത്തു എത്തിപ്പോയി.

²²പിറ്റെന്നാൾ കടൽക്കരെ നിന്ന പുരുഷാരം ഒരു പടകല്ലാതെ അവിടെ വേറെ ഇല്ലായിരുന്നു എന്നും, യേശു ശിഷ്യന്മാരോടുകൂടെ പടകിൽ കയറാതെ ശിഷ്യന്മാർ മാത്രം പോയിരുന്നു എന്നും ഗ്രഹിച്ചു.

²³എന്നാൽ കർത്താവു വാഴ്ത്തീട്ടു അവർ അപ്പം തിന്ന സ്ഥലത്തിന്നരികെ തിബെർയ്യാസിൽനിന്നു ചെറുപടകുകൾ എത്തിയിരുന്നു.

²⁴യേശു അവിടെ ഇല്ല ശിഷ്യന്മാരും ഇല്ല എന്നു പുരുഷാരം കണ്ടപ്പോൾ തങ്ങളും പടകു കയറി യേശുവിനെ തിരഞ്ഞു കഫർന്നഹൂമിൽ എത്തി.

²⁵കടലക്കരെ അവനെ കണ്ടെത്തിയപ്പോൾ: റബ്ബീ, നീ എപ്പോൾ ഇവിടെ വന്നു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. അതിന്നുയേശു

²⁷നശിച്ചുപോകുന്ന ആഹാരത്തിന്നായിട്ടല്ല, നിത്യജീവങ്കലേക്കു നിലനിലക്കുന്ന ആഹാരത്തിന്നായിട്ടു തന്നേ പ്രവർത്തിപ്പിൻ ; അതു മനുഷ്യ പുത്രൻ നിങ്ങൾക്കു തരും. അവനെ പിതാവായ ദൈവം മുദ്രയിട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

²⁸അവർ അവനോടു ദൈവത്തിന്നു പ്രസാദമുള്ള പ്രവൃത്തികളെ പ്രവർത്തിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ഞങ്ങൾ എന്തു ചെയ്യേണം എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

²⁹യേശു അവരോടു: ദൈവത്തിന്നു പ്രസാദമുള്ള പ്രവൃത്തി അവൻ അയച്ചവനിൽ നിങ്ങൾ വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നതത്രേ എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

¹Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,

²“On the first day of the first month you shall raise up the tabernacle of the Tent of Meeting.

³You shall put the ark of the covenant in it, and you shall screen the ark with the veil.

⁴You shall bring in the table, and set in order the things that are on it. You shall bring in the lamp stand, and light its lamps.

⁵You shall set the golden altar for incense before the ark of the covenant, and put the screen of the door to the tabernacle.

⁶“You shall set the altar of burnt offering before the door of the tabernacle of the Tent of Meeting.

⁷You shall set the basin between the Tent of Meeting and the altar, and shall put water therein.

⁸You shall set up the court around it, and hang up the screen of the gate of the court.

⁹“You shall take the anointing oil, and anoint the tabernacle and all that is in it, and shall make it holy, and all its furniture, and it will be holy.

¹⁰You shall anoint the altar of burnt offering, with all its vessels, and sanctify the altar, and the altar will be most holy.

¹¹You shall anoint the basin and its base, and sanctify it.

¹²“You shall bring Aaron and his sons to the door of the Tent of Meeting, and shall wash them with water.

¹³You shall put on Aaron the holy garments; and you shall anoint him, and sanctify him, that he may minister to me in the priest’s office.

¹⁴You shall bring his sons, and put tunics on them.

¹⁵You shall anoint them, as you anointed their father, that they may minister to me in the priest’s office. Their anointing shall be to them for an everlasting priesthood throughout their generations.”

¹⁶Moses did so. According to all that Yahweh commanded him, so he did.

¹അനന്തരം യഹോവ മോശെയോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതു എന്തെന്നാൽ:

²ഒന്നാം മാസം ഒന്നാം തിയ്യതി നീ സമാഗമനക്കുടാരമെന്ന തിരുനിവാസം നിവിർക്കേണം.

³സാക്ഷ്യപെട്ടകം അതിൽ വെച്ചു തിരശ്ശീലകൊണ്ടു പെട്ടകം മറെക്കേണം.

⁴മേശ കോണ്ടുവന്നു അതിന്റെ സാധനങ്ങൾ ക്രമത്തിൽ വെക്കേണം. നിലവിളകൂ കൊണ്ടുവന്നു അതിന്റെ ദീപം കൊളുത്തേണം.

⁵ധൂപത്തിന്നുള്ള പൊമ്പീഠം സാക്ഷ്യപെട്ടകത്തിന്നു മുമ്പിൽ വെച്ചു തിരുനിവാസവാതിലിന്റെ മിറശ്ശീല തൂക്കേണം.

⁶സമാഗമനക്കുടാരമെന്ന തിരുനിവാസത്തിന്റെ വാതിലിന്നു മുമ്പിൽ ഹോമയാഗപീഠം വെക്കേണം.

⁷സമാഗമനക്കുടാരത്തിന്നും യാഗപീഠത്തിന്നും നടുവിൽ തൊട്ടി വെച്ചു അതിൽ വെള്ളം ഒഴിക്കേണം.

⁸ചുറ്റും പ്രാകാരം നിവിർത്തു പ്രാകാരവാതിലിന്റെ മറശ്ശീല തൂക്കേണം.

⁹അഭിഷേകതൈലം എടുത്തു തിരുനിവാസവും അതിലുള്ള സകലവും അഭിഷേകം ചെയ്തു അതും അതിന്റെ ഉപകരങ്ങളൊക്കെയും ശുദ്ധീകരിക്കേണം;

¹⁰ഹോമയാഗപീഠവും അതിന്റെ ഉപകരണങ്ങൾ ഒക്കെയും അഭിഷേകം ചെയ്തു യാഗപീഠം ശുദ്ധീകരിക്കേണം; യാഗപീഠം അതിവിശുദ്ധമായിരിക്കേണം.

¹¹തൊട്ടിയും അതിന്റെ കാലും അഭിഷേകം ചെയ്തു ശുദ്ധീകരിക്കേണം.

¹²അഹരോനെയും പുത്രന്മാരെയും സമാഗമന കൂടാരത്തിന്റെ വാതിൽക്കൽ കൊണ്ടുവന്നു അവരെ വെള്ളംകൊണ്ടു കഴുകേണം.

¹³അഹരോനെ വിശുദ്ധവസ്ത്രം ധരിപ്പിച്ചു, എനിക്കു പുരോഹിതശുശ്രൂഷ ചെയ്യേണ്ടതിന്നു അവനെ അഭിഷേകം ചെയ്തു ശുദ്ധീകരിക്കേണം.

¹⁴അവന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരെ വരുത്തി അങ്കി ധരിപ്പിച്ചു,

¹⁵എനിക്കു പുരോഹിത ശുശ്രൂഷ ചെയ്യേണ്ടതിന്നു അവരുടെ അപ്പനെ അഭിഷേകം ചെയ്തതുപോലെ അവരെയും അഭിഷേകം ചെയ്യേണം; അവരുടെ അഭിഷേകം ഹേതുവായി അവർക്കും തലമുറതലമുറയോളം നിത്യ പൌരോഹിത്യം ഉണ്ടായിരിക്കേണം.

¹⁶മോശെ അങ്ങനെ ചെയ്തു; യഹോവ തന്നോടു കല്പിച്ചതുപോലെ ഒക്കെയും അവൻ ചെയ്തു.

¹Joshua the son of Nun secretly sent two men out of Shittim as spies, saying, “Go, view the land, including Jericho.” They went and came into the house of a prostitute whose name was Rahab, and slept there.

²The king of Jericho was told, “Behold, men of the children of Israel came in here tonight to spy out the land.”

³Jericho’s king sent to Rahab, saying, “Bring out the men who have come to you, who have entered into your house; for they have come to spy out all the land.”

⁴The woman took the two men and hid them. Then she said, “Yes, the men came to me, but I didn’t know where they came from.

⁵About the time of the shutting of the gate, when it was dark, the men went out. Where the men went, I don’t know. Pursue them quickly. You may catch up with them.”

⁶But she had brought them up to the roof, and hidden them under the stalks of flax which she had laid in order on the roof.

¹അനന്തരം നൂന്റെ മകനായ യോശുവ രഹസ്യമായി ഒറ്റുനോക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ശിത്തീമിൽനിന്നു രണ്ടുപേരെ അയച്ചു: നിങ്ങൾ പോയി ദേശവും യെരീഹോപട്ടണവും നോക്കിവരുവിൻ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അവർ പുറപ്പെട്ടു രാഹാബ് എന്നു പേരുള്ളോരു വേശ്യയുടെ വീട്ടിൽ ചെന്നു അവിടെ പാർത്തു.

²യിസ്രായേൽമക്കളിൽ ചിലർ ദേശത്തെ ശോധനചെയ്‍വാൻ രാത്രിയിൽ ഇവിടെ വന്നരിക്കന്നു എന്നു യെരീഹോരാജാവിന്നു അറിവു കിട്ടി.

³യെരീഹോരാജാവു രാഹാബിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ആളയച്ചു: നിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വന്നു വീട്ടിൽ കയറിയിരിക്കുന്ന മനുഷ്യരെ പുറത്തിറക്കിത്തരിക; അവർ ദേശമൊക്കെയും ഒറ്റുനോക്കുവാൻ വന്നവരാകുന്നു എന്നു പറയിച്ചു.

⁴ആ സ്ത്രീ അവരെ രണ്ടുപേരെയും കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടുപോയി ഒളിപ്പിച്ചിട്ടു: അവർ എന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വന്നിരുന്നു എങ്കിലും എവിടത്തുകാർ എന്നു ഞാൻ അറിഞ്ഞില്ല;

⁵ഇരുട്ടായപ്പോൾ പട്ടണവാതിൽ അടെക്കുന്ന സമയത്തു, അവർ പുറപ്പെട്ടുപോയി; എവിടേക്കു പോയി എന്നു ഞാൻ അറിയുന്നില്ല; വേഗത്തിൽ അവരുടെ പിന്നാലെ ചെല്ലുവിൻ ; എന്നാൽ അവരെ കണ്ടുപിടിക്കാം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

⁶എന്നാൽ അവൾ അവരെ വീട്ടിൻ മുകളിൽ കൊണ്ടുപോയി അവിടെ അടുക്കിവെച്ചിരുന്ന ചണത്തണ്ടുകളുടെ ഇടയിൽ ഒളിപ്പിച്ചിരുന്നു.

¹³Sing, heavens, and be joyful, earth!

¹⁴But Zion said, “Yahweh has forsaken me,

¹⁵“Can a woman forget her nursing child,

¹⁶Behold, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands.

¹⁷Your children hurry.

¹⁸Lift up your eyes all around, and see:

¹⁹“For, as for your waste and your desolate places,

²⁰The children of your bereavement will say in your ears,

²¹Then you will say in your heart, ‘Who has conceived these for me, since I have been bereaved of my children

¹³ആകാശമേ, ഘോഷിച്ചുല്ലസിക്ക; ഭൂമിയേ, ആനന്ദിക്ക; പർവ്വതങ്ങളേ, പൊട്ടി ആർക്കുംവിൻ ; യഹോവ തന്റെ ജനത്തെ ആശ്വസിപ്പിക്കുന്നു; തന്റെ അരിഷ്ടന്മാരോടു കരുണ കാണിക്കുന്നു.

¹⁴സീയോനോ: യഹോവ എന്നെ ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചു, കർത്താവു എന്നെ മറന്നുകളഞ്ഞു എന്നു പറയുന്നു.

¹⁵ഒരു സ്ത്രീ തന്റെ കുഞ്ഞിനെ മറക്കുമോ? താൻ പ്രസവിച്ച മകനോടു കരുണ, തോന്നാതിരിക്കുമോ? അവർ മറന്നുകളഞ്ഞാലും ഞാൻ നിന്നെ മറക്കയില്ല.

¹⁶ഇതാ ഞാൻ നിന്നെ എന്റെ ഉള്ളങ്കയ്യിൽ വരെച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; നിന്റെ മതിലുകൾ എല്ലായ്പോഴും എന്റെ മുമ്പിൽ ഇരിക്കുന്നു.

¹⁷നിന്റെ മക്കൾ ബദ്ധപ്പെട്ടു വരുന്നു; നിന്നെ നശിപ്പിച്ചവരും ശൂന്യമാക്കിയവരും നിന്നെ വിട്ടുപോകുന്നു.

¹⁸തലപൊക്കി ചുറ്റും നോക്കുക; ഇവർ എല്ലാവരും നിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വന്നു കൂടുന്നു. എന്നാണ, നീ അവരെ ഒക്കെയും ആഭരണംപോലെ അണികയും ഒരു മണവാട്ടി എന്നപോലെ അവരെ അരെക്കു കെട്ടുകയും ചെയ്യും എന്നു യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു.

¹⁹നിന്റെ ശൂന്യസ്ഥലങ്ങളും പാഴിടങ്ങളും നാശം ഭവിച്ച ദേശവുമോ ഇപ്പോൾ നിവാസികൾക്കു പോരാതെവരും; നിന്നെ വിഴുങ്ങിക്കളഞ്ഞവർ ദൂരത്തു അകന്നിരിക്കും.

²⁰നിന്റെ പുത്രഹീനതയിലെ മക്കൾ: സ്ഥലം പോരാതിരിക്കുന്നു; പാർപ്പാൻ സ്ഥലം തരിക എന്നു നിന്നോടു പറയും.

²¹അപ്പോൾ നീ നിന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തിൽ: ഞാൻ പുത്രഹീനയും വന്ധ്യയും പ്രവാസിനിയും അലഞ്ഞു നടക്കുന്നവളും ആയിരിക്കേ ആർ ഇവരെ പ്രസവിച്ചു വളർത്തിത്തന്നിരിക്കുന്നു? ഞാൻ ഏകാകിയായിരുന്നുവല്ലോ; ഇവർ എവിടെ ആയിരുന്നു എന്നു പറയും.

⁸Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, “You rulers of the people and elders of Israel,

⁹if we are examined today concerning a good deed done to a crippled man, by what means this man has been healed,

¹⁰may it be known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, this man stands here before you whole in him.

¹¹He is ‘the stone which was regarded as worthless by you, the builders, which has become the head of the corner.’

¹²There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!”

¹³Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and had perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marveled. They recognized that they had been with Jesus.

¹⁴Seeing the man who was healed standing with them, they could say nothing against it.

¹⁵But when they had commanded them to go aside out of the council, they conferred among themselves,

¹⁶saying, “What shall we do to these men? Because indeed a notable miracle has been done through them, as can be plainly seen by all who dwell in Jerusalem, and we can’t deny it.

¹⁷But so that this spreads no further among the people, let’s threaten them, that from now on they don’t speak to anyone in this name.”

¹⁸They called them, and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus.

¹⁹But Peter and John answered them, “Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you rather than to God, judge for yourselves,

²⁰for we can’t help telling the things which we saw and heard.”

²¹When they had further threatened them, they let them go, finding no way to punish them, because of the people; for everyone glorified God for that which was done.

⁸പത്രൊസ് പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവു നിറഞ്ഞവനായി അവരോടു പറഞ്ഞതു: ജനത്തിന്റെ പ്രമാണികളും മൂപ്പന്മാരും ആയുള്ളോരേ,

¹¹വീടുപണിയുന്നവരായ നിങ്ങൾ തള്ളിക്കളഞ്ഞിട്ടു കോണിന്റെ മൂലക്കല്ലായിത്തീർന്ന കല്ലു ഇവൻ തന്നേ.

¹²മറ്റൊരുത്തനിലും രക്ഷ ഇല്ല; നാം രക്ഷിക്കപ്പെടുവാൻ ആകാശത്തിൻ കീഴിൽ മനുഷ്യരുടെ ഇടയിൽ നല്കപ്പെട്ട വേറൊരു നാമവും ഇല്ല.

¹³അവർ പത്രൊസിന്റെയും യോഹന്നാന്റെയും ധൈര്യം കാണ്കയാലും ഇവർ പഠിപ്പില്ലാത്തവരും സാമാന്യരുമായ മനുഷ്യർ എന്നു ഗ്രഹിക്കയാലും ആശ്ചര്യപ്പെട്ടു; അവർ യേശുവിനോടുകൂടെ ആയിരുന്നവർ എന്നും അറിഞ്ഞു.

¹⁴സൗഖ്യം പ്രാപിച്ച മനുഷ്യൻ അവരോടുകൂടെ നിലക്കുന്നതു കണ്ടതുകൊണ്ടു അവർക്കും എതിർ പറവാൻ വകയില്ലായിരുന്നു.

¹⁵അവരോടു ന്യായാധിപസംഘത്തിൽനിന്നു പുറത്തുപോകുവാൻ കല്പിച്ചിട്ടു അവർ തമ്മിൽ ആലോചിച്ചു:

¹⁶ഈ മനുഷ്യരെ എന്തു ചെയ്യേണ്ടു? പ്രത്യക്ഷമായോരു അടയാളം അവർ ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു യെരൂശലേമിൽ പാർക്കുംന്ന എല്ലാവർക്കും പ്രസിദ്ധമല്ലോ; നിഷേധിപ്പാൻ നമുക്കു കഴിവില്ല.

¹⁷എങ്കിലും അതു ജനത്തിൽ അധികം പരക്കാതിരിപ്പാൻ അവർ യാതൊരു മനുഷ്യനോടും ഈ നാമത്തിൽ ഇനി സംസാരിക്കരുതെന്നു നാം അവരെ തർജ്ജനം ചെയ്യേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

¹⁸പിന്നെ അവരെ വിളിച്ചിട്ടു: യേശുവിന്റെ നാമത്തിൽ അശേഷം സംസാരിക്കരുതു, ഉപദേശിക്കയും അരുതു എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു.

¹⁹അതിന്നു പത്രൊസും യോഹന്നാനും: ദൈവത്തെക്കാൾ അധികം നിങ്ങളെ അനുസരിക്കുന്നതു ദൈവത്തിന്റേ മുമ്പാകെ ന്യായമോ എന്നു വിധിപ്പിൻ .

²⁰ഞങ്ങൾക്കോ ഞങ്ങൾ കണ്ടും കേട്ടുമിരിക്കുന്നതു പ്രസ്താവിക്കാതിരിപ്പാൻ കഴിയുന്നതല്ല എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

²¹എന്നാൽ ഈ സംഭവിച്ച കാര്യംകൊണ്ടു എല്ലാം ദൈവത്തെ മഹത്വപ്പെടുത്തുകയാൽ അവരെ ശിക്ഷിക്കുന്നതിനു ജനംനിമിത്തം വഴി ഒന്നും കാണായ്കകൊണ്ടു അവർ പിന്നെയും തർജ്ജനം ചെയ്തു അവരെ വിട്ടയച്ചു.

¹Therefore, holy brothers, partakers of a heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our confession: Jesus,

²who was faithful to him who appointed him, as also Moses was in all his house.

³For he has been counted worthy of more glory than Moses, because he who built the house has more honor than the house.

⁴For every house is built by someone; but he who built all things is God.

⁵Moses indeed was faithful in all his house as a servant, for a testimony of those things which were afterward to be spoken,

⁶but Christ is faithful as a Son over his house. We are his house, if we hold fast our confidence and the glorying of our hope firm to the end.

⁷Therefore, even as the Holy Spirit says,

⁸don’t harden your hearts as in the rebellion,

⁹where your fathers tested me and tried me,

¹⁰Therefore I was displeased with that generation,

¹¹As I swore in my wrath,

¹²Beware, brothers, lest perhaps there might be in any one of you an evil heart of unbelief, in falling away from the living God;

¹³but exhort one another day by day, so long as it is called “today”, lest any one of you be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.

¹അതുകൊണ്ടു വിശുദ്ധ സഹോദരന്മാരേ, സ്വർഗ്ഗീയവിളിക്കു ഔഹരിക്കാരായുള്ളോരേ, നാം സ്വീകരിച്ചുപറയുന്ന അപ്പൊസ്തലനും മഹാപുരോഹിതനുമായ യേശുവിനെ ശ്രദ്ധിച്ചുനോക്കുവിൻ .

²മോശെ ദൈവഭവനത്തിൽ ഒക്കെയും വിശ്വസ്തനായിരുന്നതുപോല യേശുവും തന്നെ നിയമിച്ചാക്കിയവന്നു വിശ്വസ്തൻ ആകുന്നു.

³ഭവനത്തെക്കാളും ഭവനം ചമെച്ചവന്നു അധികം മാനമുള്ളതുപോലെ യേശുവും മോശെയെക്കാൾ അധികം മഹത്വത്തിന്നു യോഗ്യൻ എന്നു എണ്ണിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

⁴ഏതു ഭവനവും ചമെപ്പാൻ ഒരാൾ വേണം; സർവ്വവും ചമച്ചവൻ ദൈവം തന്നേ.

⁵അവന്റെ ഭവനത്തിൽ ഒക്കെയും മോശെ വിശ്വസ്തനായിരുന്നതു അരുളിച്ചെയ്‍വാനിരുന്നതിന്നു സാക്ഷ്യം പറയുന്ന ഭൃത്യനായിട്ടത്രേ.

⁶ക്രിസ്തുവോ അവന്റെ ഭവനത്തിന്നു അധികാരിയായ പുത്രനായിട്ടു തന്നേ; പ്രത്യാശയുടെ ധൈർയ്യവും പ്രശംസയും നാം അവസാനത്തോളം മുറുകെപ്പിടിച്ചുകൊണ്ടാൽ നാം തന്നേ അവന്റെ ഭവനം ആകുന്നു.

⁷അതുകൊണ്ടു പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവു അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നതുപോലെ:

⁸“ഇന്നു നിങ്ങൾ അവന്റെ ശബ്ദം കേൾക്കുന്നുവെങ്കിൽ മരുഭൂമിയിൽവെച്ചു പരീക്ഷാദിവസത്തിലെ മത്സരത്തിൽ എന്നപോലെ നിങ്ങളുടെ ഹൃദയം കഠിനമാക്കരുതു.

⁹അവിടെവെച്ചു നിങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാർ എന്നെ പരീക്ഷിച്ചു നാല്പതു ആണ്ടു എന്റെ പ്രവൃത്തികളെ കണ്ടിട്ടും എന്നെ ശോധനചെയ്തു.

¹⁰അതുകൊണ്ടു എനിക്കു ആ തലമുറയോടു നീരസം ഉണ്ടായി. അവർ എപ്പോഴും തെറ്റിപ്പോകുന്ന ഹൃദയമുള്ളവർ എന്നും എന്റെ വഴികളെ അറിയാത്തവർ എന്നും ഞാൻ പറഞ്ഞു;

¹¹അവർ എന്റെ സ്വസ്ഥതയിൽ പ്രവേശിക്കയില്ല എന്നു ഞാൻ എന്റെ ക്രോധത്തിൽ സത്യം ചെയ്തു.”

¹²സഹോദരന്മാരേ, ജീവനുള്ള ദൈവത്തെ ത്യജിച്ചുകളയാതിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അവിശ്വാസമുള്ള ദുഷ്ടഹൃദയം നിങ്ങളിൽ ആർക്കും ഉണ്ടാകാതിരിപ്പാൻ നോക്കുവിൻ .

¹³നിങ്ങൾ ആരും പാപത്തിന്റെ ചതിയാൽ കഠിനപ്പെടാതിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു “ഇന്നു” എന്നു പറയുന്നേടത്തോളം നാൾതോറും അന്യോന്യം പ്രബോധിപ്പിച്ചുകൊൾവിൻ .

¹⁵So when they had eaten their breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon, son of Jonah, do you love me more than these?”

¹⁶He said to him again a second time, “Simon, son of Jonah, do you love me?”

¹⁷He said to him the third time, “Simon, son of Jonah, do you have affection for me?”

¹⁸Most certainly I tell you, when you were young, you dressed yourself and walked where you wanted to. But when you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and another will dress you and carry you where you don’t want to go.”

¹⁹Now he said this, signifying by what kind of death he would glorify God. When he had said this, he said to him, “Follow me.”

¹⁷മൂന്നാമതും അവനോടു: യോഹന്നാന്റെ മകനായ ശിമോനേ, നിനക്കു എന്നോടു പ്രിയമുണ്ടോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. എന്നോടു പ്രിയമുണ്ടോ എന്നു മൂന്നാമതും ചോദിക്കയാൽ പത്രൊസ് ദുഃഖിച്ചു: കർത്താവേ, നീ സകലവും അറിയുന്നു; എനിക്കു നിന്നോടു പ്രിയമുണ്ടു എന്നും നീ അറിയുന്നു എന്നു അവനോടു പറഞ്ഞു. യേശു അവനോടു: എന്റെ ആടുകളെ മേയ്ക്ക.

¹⁸ആമേൻ , ആമേൻ , ഞാൻ നിന്നോടു പറയുന്നു: നീ യൌവനക്കാരൻ ആയിരുന്നപ്പോൾ നീ തന്നേ അര കെട്ടി ഇഷ്ടമുള്ളേടത്തു നടന്നു; വയസ്സനായശേഷമോ നീ കൈ നീട്ടുകയും മറ്റൊരുത്തൻ നിന്റെ അര കെട്ടി നിനക്കു ഇഷ്ടമില്ലാത്ത ഇടത്തേക്കു നിന്നെ കൊണ്ടുപോകയും ചെയ്യും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

¹⁹അതിനാൽ അവൻ ഇന്നവിധം മരണം കൊണ്ടു ദൈവത്തെ മഹത്വപ്പെടുത്തും എന്നു അവൻ സൂചിപ്പിച്ചു; ഇതു പറഞ്ഞിട്ടു: എന്നെ അനുഗമിക്ക എന്നു അവനോടു പറഞ്ഞു.
